Eighties teen pop sensation DEBORAH GIBSON is launching a new talent camp in an effort to find the next big star.
The Shake Your Love singer has enjoyed major chart and Broadway success and now she wants to pass on her knowledge to wannabes.
Gibson will hold auditions for the first Camp Electric Youth scholarships on 2 February (08) in Hollywood.
The singer, who remains the youngest star to hit number one with a song she wrote and recorded, hopes to give tomorrow’s big stars the help they need to make it big.
She says, "I was the Hannah Montana of the eighties and I have a lot of experience and knowledge to offer today’s aspiring performers.
"Working with young talent and helping cultivate their skills is extremely rewarding." Gibson will work with acting coaches Howard Fine and Cynthia Bain at Camp Electric Youth. The auditions and first camp activities will be caught on film for an upcoming reality show.

BRITISH SEA POWER rocker PHIL SUMNER was taken to hospital on Wednesday (23Jan08) night after knocking himself out mid-concert.
The cornet player decided to jump off a 12-foot-high stack of amplifiers during the band’s encore performance in Leeds, England - but he landed on his chin, sustaining a cut and leaving him unconscious.
Sumner was taken from the venue to a nearby hospital in an ambulance.
Doctors have diagnosed a concussion and a broken molar, and the musician now requires stitches to his chin. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Sumner isn’t the only British Sea Power member to have injured himself recently - drummer Matthew Wood is currently recovering from a back injury at home, and has been replaced temporarily by Tom White for the band’s U.K. tour.

Legendary rockers TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS are to follow up their Super Bowl appearance with a major summer (08) tour - 18 months after Petty hinted he’d never tour again.
The American Girl stars, who will perform during the Super Bowl half-time show in Arizona on 3 February (08), have just announced a 38-date North American tour with former Traffic star Steve Winwood as a special guest.
The tour will start in Michigan at the end of May (08) and run until the end of August (08).
The news will be a surprise for many Petty fans, who thought they were seeing the rocker and his band for the last time when they toured in 2006.
Prior to that tour, Petty told Rolling Stone magazine his touring days were numbered.
He said, "I think we should do this tour and then put an end to doing national tours, and just play now and then where we want to play.
"The idea of doing sheds or arenas… you turn into an animal by the time it’s done."

Songwriter/record producer CLYDE OTIS has died. He was 83.
Otis, best known for his lengthy collaboration with singer Brook Benton, passed away at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey on 8 January (08).
Born in rural Mississippi in 1924, Otis wrote some of the best known songs from the early days of rock ‘n’ roll, including Endlessly, The Stroll and Baby (You’ve Got What It Takes).
But it was the dozen or so hits he created with Benton, starting with It’s Just A Matter Of Time, that helped make Otis a big name.
He also wrote songs for stars including Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan and was something of a trailblazer, becoming one of the first black executives at a major record label - Mercury.

Former PHISH star TREY ANASTASIO faces three years in jail after allegedly violating the terms of a felony drug charge plea agreement.
The rocker was held at the Washington County Jail in Fort Edward, New York for two days last week (ends18Jan08), after missing a drug counselling session, according to officials.
The guitarist could now be sentenced to serve jail time if he’s found to have violated an agreement made in April 2007, when he plead guilty to attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, after police found heroin, Xanax and Vicodin in his car during a routine traffic stop. At the time, Anastasio was ordered to make weekly court appearances for a year and to perform community service. A judge threatened the rocker with a three-year jail sentence if he failed to follow the terms of the plea agreement.

Spears herself is said to be worth an estimated $125 million (£62.5 million) and earns over $700,000 (£350,000) a month in interest from her own personal accounts, but that pales in comparison to the vast sums she makes for other sectors of the entertainment industry.
A new survey by Portfolio Magazine has revealed that since launching her career eight years ago the 26-year-old has pulled in excess of $400 million (£200 million) for her record label Jive, $150 million (£75 million) for tour promoters and venues and her two-endorsed perfumes are reported to have made beauty manufacturer Elizabeth Arden approximately $100 million (£50 million) since their launch.
Spears is also said be of great value to the publishing industry - a cover featuring the star is believed to increase interest in a magazine by a massive 33 per cent.
But it is the paparazzi - who Spears allegedly works alongside by making them aware of her routine - who are the biggest winners.
A simple shopping picture, bringing in $250 (£125), to exclusives for $100,000 (£50,000), earns the savvy star 20 per cent of all paparazzi business, according to the report.

A cocktail of five prescription drugs were found at HEATH LEDGER’s New York apartment following the 28-year-old actor’s death on Tuesday (22Jan08), according to new reports.
NYPD sources tell TMZ.com that pill bottles containing the anti-anxiety medications and sleeping pills were found as the authorities arrived to try and revive him.
All of the drugs were prescribed to Ledger.
But the paramedics who first attended to the actor insist the death scene looked "normal" and there was no evidence to suggest any illicit drug use.
A rolled $20 bill, found at the scene, tested clean for illegal narcotics, and the numerous pill bottles in the apartment were all nearly full.
An autopsy carried out on Wednesday (23Jan08) proved inconclusive. The exact cause of Ledger’s death will be determined within the next 10 days.

CELINE DION has written a song she hopes will be chosen as the official theme of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
The Canadian singer has submitted a song to the board responsible for choosing a track. The winning song will be revealed on 8 August (08) when the games begin in the Chinese capital.
And, perhaps in a bid to sway judges, Dion is visiting China in April (08) for her first ever concert there.
It won’t be the first time the 39-year-old has provided the music of the games - her song The Power of the Dream was the theme of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

AMY WINEHOUSE’s father once considered having his daughter committed to a mental institution - in a bid to help her kick her drug habit.
Mitch Winehouse is desperate to find a way to help his troubled daughter and admits he has thought about having her sectioned under the Mental Health Act but hospital officials couldn’t help, because the Back to Black star isn’t considered at risk of hurting herself.
He tells British radio station LBC, "You might consider taking drugs is a danger to herself, but unfortunately the authorities don’t." Winehouse has pleaded with his famous offspring to seek help for her substance abuse problems and is saddened that she constantly refuses treatment.
He adds, "Part of the problem is she doesn’t think she’s got a problem. She thinks she can do what she does recreationally and get on with the rest of her life.
"The moment she says she wants to go into a facility, within half an hour she will be in a facility. But unless she wants to do it of her own accord, it’s pointless.
"You can’t lock the key and say, ‘You can’t come out before you’re better’.
That’s called abduction." The star, who famously penned her 2006 Rehab about her unwillingness to stay in a rehabilitation facility, has been embroiled in drugs scandal after a British tabloid published video footage showing her apparently smoking crack cocaine last Friday (18Jan08).

UGLY BETTY star VANESSA WILLIAMS is desperate to land VICTORIA BECKHAM a recurring role on the hit show - insisting she didn’t behave like a diva on set.
The actress, who plays ruthless fashion queen Wilhelmina Slater in the series, believes the Spice Girl would be the perfect addition to the series, because her cameo performance last year (07) was "phenomenal".

ANGELINA JOLIE and BRAD PITT are reportedly planning to adopt a child orphaned by Hurricane Katrina.
The pair, who already have three adopted tots, have been working tirelessly to rehouse people affected by the storm that hit the U.S gulf coast in 2005. And Pitt has dedicated time and money to the Make it Right organisation, which is rebuilding a destroyed section of New Orleans.
American magazine Star claims the couple has fallen in love with a girl whose parents were killed in the Katrina devastation, and they want to add her to their expanding family.
The couple already has three adopted children, Maddox, six, Pax, four and Zahara, three, and a natural baby, Shiloh, 19 months.
A source tells the tabloid, "Brad met a little girl and fell completely in love. He and Angie had already decide that their next child would be a daughter. They were originally going to adopt a girl from Africa, but now Brad is sure this child is the one."

Former BEVERLY HILLS, 90210 star TORI SPELLING is pregnant with her second child, according to new U.S. reports.
The actress and husband Dean McDermott became first-time parents last year (Mar07) when baby son Liam was born, and they’re said to be ecstatic about the news.

GEORGE CLOONEY is rumoured to have cut short a charity trip to Africa because of illness.
The actor has been visiting the troubled Darfur region of the Sudan, his first posting as a United Nations Messenger of Peace.
But sources claim he returned to the U.S. early on Tuesday (22Jan08) after becoming sick.
His spokesperson refused to confirm or deny the reports, telling the New York Daily News, "There’s a lot of inaccurate information out there." More than 200,000 people have been killed and more than two million turned into refugees by famine and war, since civil war broke out in the Sudan in 2003.

Former ‘N SYNC star LANCE BASS had to be taken to hospital earlier this month (12Jan08) after injuring himself at a New York gym.
The gay star bashed his head on a weightlifting machine, after refusing help with a workout, reports America’s Star magazine.
A source tells the tabloid, "He tried to use an upper-body machine, but he put more weight on it than he could handle." Star claims a lever swung back and hit him, badly cutting his head.
The source adds, "He was bleeding so badly that the trainers had to call an ambulance to take him away. He was so embarrassed."

MARION `SUGE’ KNIGHT has slammed officials in Los Angeles for including him on a list of gang members they want to see banned from congregating in the city branding it a "publicity stunt".
Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records, was one of 200 people accused of being associated with the Mob Piru gang.
City bosses are currently seeking an injunction in a bid to ban gang members from the streets of Compton, 10 miles (16 km) south of downtown L.A. If approved by a judge, the order would ban named parties from congregating, carrying guns, drinking alcohol in public and would also impose a 10pm curfew.
Knight hit back insisting he has no links to the gang - calling the claims "crazy".
He says, "I’m a 42-year-old businessman, not a gang member. I don’t even live in Compton anymore. This injunction names people who are already in jail - and at least one guy who is long dead." Mob Piru members have gained notoriety for their alleged links to Knight and Death Row Records, which was once home to artists such as Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg.

LATEST: Atlantic Records bosses have confirmed rapper LIL’ KIM has quit the label after more than 10 years on their books.
The company has issued a statement making her departure official and insisting they parted on good terms, according to Allhiphop.com.
It reads, "We wish Lil’ Kim the best of luck in all of her future endeavours." Lil’ Kim - real name Kimberly Jones - released all four of her previous albums on Atlantic and her forthcoming LP, which was due to hit shops in February has now been tentatively scheduled for April or May this year (08).
It had been rumoured the hitmaker left the label in order to release her music independently but Jones has also been linked with a possible move to Imperial Records - the home of Fat Joe.
