THE WHO BOOK LIFTS LIDS ON WILD ROCKER
A candid new book about THE WHO promises to lift the lid on the sixties rockers’ hellraising heyday.
The band’s former roadie Tom Wright has penned Roadwork, a collection of memories and photographs collected during his time with the band.
The text comes with the full endorsement of The Who guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend.
He says, "Much of my life that Tom describes will never appear in my own memoirs, simply because I don’t remember it." Roadwork include a number of anecdotes about wild drummer Keith Moon - who died of a drug overdose in 1978.
Wright writes, "Keith took so much speed he never really got drunk, while everybody else needed stretches, Keith stayed up all night, sprayed dry shampoo on his hair, rubbed it with a towel and looked good to go. You never knew if he’d been up all night or was actually showered or rested."
