PAVEMENT ART BECOMES A SHRINE TO LEDGER
Cement art HEATH LEDGER and his young daughter MATILDA created on the sidewalk near his former New York home has become an unlikely shrine to the movie star.
Ledger scribbled `MATILDA’ in the wet cement after his two-year-old daughter stepped on the drying pavement in Brooklyn last summer (07).
Her print was joined by that of a former neighbour’s dog, called Hugo.
Neighbour Roger Lang, who lived across the street from the apartment Ledger shared with his ex-fiancee, Matilda’s mother Michelle Williams, confirmed the markings were the actors to stunned fans who gathered outside his old home on Wednesday morning (23Jan08).
Lang said. "It was a secret. It was a fun thing. He did it as a surprise for his family." Fans have since placed carnations on the sidewalk near Ledger’s footprint art - as a tribute to the actor.
