DOHERTY ESCAPES WITH A CAUTION FOR ALLEGED PAPARAZZO ATTACK

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:56 am

British rocker PETE DOHERTY has been cautioned by police over an alleged attack on a photographer last year (07).
The Babyshambles frontman was cited for criminal damage on Sunday (20Jan08) after appearing at Yeovil police station in south west England to answer allegations of assault relating to a scuffle with snapper Cath Mead in nearby Somerset in August (07). Doherty is reported to have chased Mead into a shop after she photographed his then-girlfriend Irina Lazareanu. Mead escaped with minor injuries, but her camera was badly damaged.
But police have decided Doherty - who at the time was on bail for previous drugs and driving offences - would not face further action for the incident, and released him with just a warning.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police says, "(Doherty) did report to Yeovil police station. A decision was taken that no further action would be taken after the assault.
"He was given a caution for the criminal damage to the camera."
