Actress CHARLIZE THERON was left red-faced after embarrassing herself by confusing two major world cities.
The Monster star was discussing her voyage through Turkey toward the Istanbul International Film Festival with boyfriend actor Stuart Townsend, when she mistakenly named Budapest, the capital of Hungary, as one of her Turkish stops.
The 32-year-old South African went on to describe a visit at a Turkish bazaar, purchasing Turkish carpets and the attention lavished on her while in "Budapest" - when in fact she had visited Turkish capital Istanbul.
She told reporters, "We went to Turkey. When we got over there, we rented a car and we drove all the way to Budapest. By the time we got to Budapest it was like the Cannes Film Festival, I’d never seen anything like it."

The estranged wife of BRITNEY SPEARS’ paparazzo boyfriend ADNAN GHALIB is adamant he will not wed the troubled star - because she forbids it.
American model and beautician AzLynn Berry has been hiding in her parents’ Los Angeles home since her photographer husband began romancing the Toxic hitmaker after meeting in December (07).
But the 28-year-old has vowed to initiate a difficult divorce battle if Ghalib wants to end their marriage.
She told U.S. entertainment news show Access Hollywood, "The only way he’ll marry her is over my dead body. "We were living together as man and wife when he started romancing Britney. I believed he was purely working and he was trying to win her confidence for a photoshoot." Berry, who is still legally married to Ghalib, threw the photographer out of their marital home when she found out about his infidelity.
She adds, "It’s been reported that ours was a marriage of convenience to help him get his green card but that’s simply not true. He’s broken my heart and I haven’t stopped crying for two weeks. "But he’s living on the same fantasy planet as her if they think they’ll be walking down the aisle any time soon."

Twenty-year-old Laura McLaughlin - a straight-A student who has been offered a place at Harvard University in the U.S. - claims she is three months pregnant by the Babyshambles frontman and the baby is due in June (08).

HAYLIE DUFF is desperately trying to reunite with writer/director ex-boyfriend CHARLIE McDOWELL, less than two months after she ditched him.

Veteran actress SUZANNE PLESHETTE has died. She was 70.
The Bob Newhart Show star died of respiratory failure at her home in Los Angeles on Saturday (19Jan08), after a battle with lung cancer - which she underwent chemotherapy for in 2006.
Pleshette also also appeared on the big screen in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, and most recently had made guest appearances in hit sitcom Will & Grace.
Her third husband Tom Poston died in 2000.

Former BRADY BUNCH star ALLAN MELVIN has died. He was 84.
The veteran actor - who played Sam the butcher in the show - passed away at his home in Los Angeles on Thursday (17Jan08).
Melvin was best known for his character roles in many classic U.S. TV series, including The Phil Silvers Show and All In The Family.
He also voiced the character of Bluto in the Popeye cartoon.
Melvin is survived by his wife Amalia, daughter, and a grandson.

American reality TV star VINCENT MARGERA has been sentenced to two years probation after violating bail conditions over a drugs charge.
The Viva La Bam star - the uncle of Jackass regular Ban Margera - pleaded guilty to the cocaine possession-related charge in court on Friday (18Jan08).
Margera was convicted of child sexual assault in October (07), and while out on bond on the sex assault case in 2006, he tested positive for cocaine use.
Margera was sentenced last month (Dec07) to 10 years to life probation as a result of the assault charge, and his probation for drug use will run concurrently with the probation from the sex offender sentence.
Margera was also ordered to give up his Don Vito persona for 10 years in December (07) as a result of the sex offence charges.

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES actress LENA HEADEY has been blasted by fans and feminists for her physique - because she is too "emaciated" to portray the series’ action heroine.
The British actress plays Sarah Connor in the TV spin-off based on the sci-fi film franchise, which featured the muscular Linda Hamilton in the role of a cyborg-battling renegade.
But the 34-year-old has come under fire for her slim figure - which some critics insist is a dangerous example of the body-conscious Hollywood’s increasing approval of emaciation.
Kym Lambert, a spokeswoman for The Sarah Connor Charm School, an online fan group which claims it is "an art project focused on physical feminist empowerment" says, "We were very upset to find out that a very thin and non-athletic actress had been chosen out of, supposedly, hundreds to play a role that we as physical feminists found so inspiring. We see this as yet another example of the media trying to inspire women to be thin, to ‘keep our place’ (as in not take up too much room) and to keep us from being strong.
"The premise of physical feminism is that women are just as capable of defending ourselves as men, that the concept that we are weaker than men is a cultural myth rather than a physical reality. And Hamilton’s portrayal of Sarah Connor was a key media icon for that belief."

British actress JULIE CHRISTIE is suffering from a rare and irreversible condition that has left her unable to remember events from her past.
Christie won the Best Actress Golden Globe last week (13Jan08) for her role as a woman with Alzheimer’s disease in Away From Her - a portrayal influenced by her own experience as a victim of autobiographical amnesia.
She says, "It makes learning my lines very difficult. Because of that I’ve been happy to stay away from films and stage work. I have turned down a lot of offers from Hollywood producers and (London’s) West End directors.
But the 66-year-old, who was diagnosed with the condition more than a decade ago, was determined to hide her handicap from the cast and crew while filming the 2006 drama.
A member of the production team says, "I am absolutely astonished to learn this. She impressed throughout filming as nothing less than a consummate professional. "My heart goes out to her. No one would guess she had any trouble remembering her lines."

Songwriter JOHN STEWART has died. He was 68.
The Kingston Trio star, who wrote seminal Monkees hit Daydream Believer, suffered a stroke and died on Saturday (19Jan08) at a San Diego hospital.
Stewart’s death was announced on The Kingston Trio’s website, which stated, "The world has lost one of its best men, but a man who lived well and made many people happy with his love, his wit and his music." He recorded 13 albums with The Kingston Trio, and later enjoyed solo success, going on to record more than 40 albums after the group split in 1967.
Stewart is survived by his wife Buffy and children.

SONIC YOUTH star THURSTON MOORE has added movie composer to his resume - after scoring the soundtrack to an adult film.
The musician has teamed up with director Richard Kern to write the musical accompaniment to Extra Action (And Extra Hardcore) - a film featuring 60 amateur porn actresses.
The DVD is slated for release in U.S. in March (08).

Rap star FATMAN SCOOP is encouraging U.S. citizens to vote - by offering registered voters the chance to appear on his online TV show MAN AND WIFE.
The reality series, which sees the star and his partner Shanda discuss relationship issues, has launched its own drive to promote voting among viewers - even suggesting couples should try a unique way of doing their bit for their country in the race for the next U.S. president.
Shanda tells AllHipHop.com, "We have found a way to make registering to vote fun and sexy. Each time you have sex with your partner, Scoop and I challenge you to convince someone to go register to vote." Viewers are then asked to email the couple after registering, and the contestant with the most entries following the election on 4 November (08) will appear in a full episode of Man And Wife.
Shanda adds, "We thought it (would) be an excellent idea to start now, because many people aren’t registered. We figure, (if) we start the ‘campaign’ to register now, it would definitely allow for more voters on election day making their votes count!" The couple insist they will not be endorsing any political candidates in the running for the role of U.S. president.

The planned wedding of TAKING BACK SUNDAY singer ADAM LAZZARA and EISLEY rocker CHAUNTELLE DuPREE has been called off.
The couple became engaged on Valentine’s Day last year (07) and were planning to wed in March (08) - but the pair has now decided to part ways.

Disgraced British rocker GARY GLITTER has been admitted to hospital after suffering a heart attack. The 1970s star - who was diagnosed with high blood pressure last year (07) collapsed last Sunday (13Jan08) in the dormitory he shares with 18 other inmates in a Vietnam prison.
He is serving a three-year sentence after being convicted in 2006 of committing obscene acts with two Vietnamese girls, aged 11 and 12.
The singer - real name Paul Gadd - was due for release in August (08) but is now being considered for an early release so he can seek specialist care in the U.K.
A nurse tells British newspaper The News Of The World, "Mr Gadd suffered a heart attack. He remains very frail and his blood pressure is still dangerously high. When he is well enough he will go back to prison but at the moment he is still a very sick man."
