STALLONE DEFENDS GROWTH HORMONES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:20 am

Veteran actor SYLVESTER STALLONE has blasted the public’s "archaic" view of human growth hormones, insisting the drug isn’t a quick fix to get a muscular physique.
Stallone was convicted on charges of importing the muscle-building drug into Australia, where human growth hormones are illegal, last year (07).
But the 61-year-old dismisses speculation he was taking the drug to quickly build up his physique in advance of shooting new sequel John Rambo.
Speaking on U.S. TV show Today, Stallone said, "It’s not pumped up… What people don’t understand about HGH is it’s an amino acid.
"A long time ago people didn’t understand what they were talking about so they lumped everything together. It’s really archaic the way people perceive HGH.
"I only wish that it were true, that you can just take something like that and you’re in shape. You’ve got to put years and years and years of hard labour to get in shape."

  • SIMMONS FELL FOR HOUNSOU ON FIRST DATE WITH FRIENDS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:17 am

Model-turned-fashion queen KIMORA LEE SIMMONS found love with movie hunk DJIMON HOUNSOU after promising herself she’d steer clear of romance following her marriage split.
The Baby Phat boss admits she wasn’t looking for love when the African actor came into her life last February (07) - because she was still tender after the end of her marriage to hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons.
She tells the upcoming issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, "After my break-up, I thought, ‘I don’t need anything.’ But now I have someone who has the heart, the soul, and the hotness.
"When you’re not looking, that’s when it happens." Simmons reveals she immediately fell for the Blood Diamond star on their first date - a dinner with friends at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills, California.
She recalls, "(He was) deeply compelling and utterly sweet. I immediately got into, ‘Are you dating? (Are) you married? (Do) you want kids?’ I asked all the things you would never ask someone if you really were trying to date (them) because you would scare them off." But Hounsou insists he felt the same way about Simmons: "My first impression has always been the same, that she’s a very beautiful lady, very capable and intelligent and smart with great family values."

  • FARRELL SWEARS ON LIVE TV JUST DAYS AFTER KEATON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:14 am

COLIN FARRELL has become the second actor to swear live on U.S. TV within the space of three days when he accidentally let slip the word ‘f**k’ in a morning interview.
Farrell was talking to CNN host Brooke Anderson at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Friday (18Jan08) when he forgot himself - just days after Diane Keaton did the same thing.
When explaining why director Woody Allen let him keep his Irish accent while starring as a hitman in new London movie Cassandra’s Dream, Farrell said, "F**k that, he’s Irish!" Then, realising his use of foul language probably wouldn’t sit well with young viewers across America, clumsy Farrell exclaimed, "Oh s**t!" On Tuesday (15Jan08), Keaton shocked broadcaster Diane Sawyer when she complimented the Good Morning America host’s lips by saying, "I wish I had lips like that; then I wouldn’t have to work on my f**king personality."

  • SCRUBS STAR IN CHILD PAYMENT ROW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:14 am

SCRUBS star JOHN C. McGINLEY has landed in a legal battle with his ex-wife, after withholding child support payments because of the writer’s strike.
McGinley is obliged to pay Lauren Lambert - who he divorced in 2001 - $9,000 (£4,500) a month to look after their 10-year-old son Max, who suffers from Down’s Syndrome.
The actor, who plays Dr. Cox in Scrubs, stopped the payments earlier this month (Jan08), claiming it isn’t fair for him to have to make full payments while the show isn’t in production.
Lambert is furious, claiming McGinley can afford a "big house in Malibu" and is ready to ask a judge to hold him in contempt, reports TMZ.com.
But McGinley’s lawyer Lynn Soodik insists, "He’s following the court order which allows him to reduce support if the show isn’t being shot." The actor married second wife Nichole Kessler in April last year (07).

  • DOM DeLUISE BATTLES CANCER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:14 am

Comedian DOM DeLUISE is battling two forms of deadly cancer.
The 74-year-old star of Blazing Saddles was diagnosed with penile and prostrate cancer at hospital in Santa Monica, California this month (Jan08), after being hospitalised three times in the last year-and-a-half.
An insider tells the National Enquirer, "Dom has had health problems for years, but this time it’s different - it’s the big C. He’s terrified he’s dying.
"Over the past 15 years, Dom has dealt with addiction to prescription drugs, hip replacement surgery, heart disease and diabetes. But now he feels completely helpless." But a cancer specialist insists there is hope for the funnyman, telling the tabloid, "If caught early, before it spreads to the surrounding lymph nodes, (penile cancer) is highly treatable."

  • RHAMES DOGS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CARETAKER’S DEATH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:11 am

VING RHAMES’ caretaker died from a "pre-existing heart problem" when he was attacked by the actor’s dogs in August (07).
Jacob Adams, 40, was pronounced dead in front of Rhames’ Brentwood, California home and was first thought to have been mauled to death by the Pulp Fiction star’s pets.
But the Los Angeles Department Of Coroner has now ruled, following a five-month investigation, that Adams didn’t die from wounds inflicted on him by the dogs.
Coroner spokesman Ed Winter says, "The dogs didn’t kill Mr. Adams. He died because of a pre-existing heart problem. The dog bites found on him were determined to be non-fatal." Rhames was filming in Bulgaria at the time of the incident.
His dogs - three mastiffs and one bulldog - were quarantined but have since been returned to the actor.

Adkins has made millions of dollars since he returned to dry land and embarked on a career as a country music star - but he confesses he yearns for the simplicity of life at sea.

  • RICHARDS SHOCKED WOOD’S WIFE WITH HEROIN INJECTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:08 am

ROLLING STONE RONNIE WOOD will never forget the first time his bandmate KEITH RICHARDS met his future wife - because the legendary hellraiser injected himself with heroin in front of her before saying hello.
Wood had arranged to meet his then-new girlfriend Jo for a romantic rendez-vous in a hotel room in Paris, France in 1977, but was several hours late after his plane was delayed.
When he did finally arrive at the hotel in the middle of the night, Jo was shocked to find Wood accompanied by Richards, who was in desperate need of a shot of heroin - and ended up staying for three days.
Writing in his autobiography Ronnie, Wood recalls: "I walked in (to the hotel room) and so did Keith. He went straight past Jo to a tiny table, never said a word, took out a spoon and started cooking up a hit. Jo stood there speechless, with her mouth wide open because she’d never seen anything like this.
"Keith shot up, then looked at her and said, ‘You must be Jo, hello darling,’ and gave her a big kiss. Jo glared at me. I simply said, ‘You have to excuse my friend, we go everywhere together.’" A couple of days later, Jo was starting to get annoyed.
Wood adds: "Jo kept asking me, ‘When are we going to get rid of Keith?’ But we couldn’t leave him there alone, in an opiate haze."

  • MIDLER TO RETIRE AFTER LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:08 am

Veteran singer/actress BETTE MIDLER is planning to retire from showbusiness once her two-and-a-half-year run of shows in Las Vegas is over.
The 62-year-old is taking over from Celine Dion at the Colosseum venue next month (Feb08), where she’ll perform The Showgirl Must Go On for 30 months.
But Midler admits she is then likely to stop working.
Asked by American magazine Parade whether she will retire after the show, she says, "I think so. I must say, my high kick is just as high as it ever was, thanks to tai chi. But everything is a bit slower. The mind - things don’t stick the way they used to.
"I feel like I’m going out with a bang. It’s something my husband and I have talked about. I certainly don’t want to die in harness. I’m not one of those people."

  • McGRAW REGRETS MAKING SPEARS STATEMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:08 am

LATEST: American TV self-help guru DR. PHIL McGRAW regrets going public with his thoughts about BRITNEY SPEARS’ mental health earlier this month (Jan08).
McGraw agreed to meet with Spears after she was committed to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center following an apparent breakdown at her home on 4 January (08).
He then upset members of her family by publicly revealing his thoughts about Spears’ mental health and has come under fire from his peers for reportedly planning a now-scrapped TV special around her troubles.
And McGraw could find himself in trouble with California’s medical authorities after Board Of Psychology bosses received a complaint claiming he was practicing without a valid California license when he went to Spears’ aid.
McGraw now admits he wishes he’d never made his statement.
He says, "Was it helpful to the situation? Regrettably, no. It was not, and I have to acknowledge that and I do.
"I definitely think if I had it to do it over again, I probably wouldn’t make any statement at all. Period."
