Troubled star BRITNEY SPEARS has not lost her role in new movie MEMOIRS OF A MEDICATED CHILD, despite U.S. reports to the contrary.
The Toxic hitmaker was reported to have been replaced by Canadian singer Samantha Falk in the movie after being dropped by producers.
But the film’s director Tommy Parker denies Spears was axed from the picture.
He tells New York gossip column PageSix, "The rumours of Britney Spears not starring in the movie are false. We still are in negotiations and the possibility of Britney still being in the movie remains the same.
"Samantha has been cast in the movie, but her involvement in the film does not affect the part we would like Britney to play." However, in a statement issued on Friday (18Jan08), Falk announced her intention to back out of the film and maintains Spears is not part of the project.
She says, "After reading some of the articles and interviews, I would like to say officially at this point that I am removing myself from all dealings with this film/project. I do not appreciate being misled by Tommy Parker in this manner. "To my knowledge Britney Spears is in no way attached to this film at this time. Tommy Parker can choose to say whatever he wants. However, myself along with my clients will not be a part of it!"

Actor KIEFER SUTHERLAND has been a good inmate during his stint in jail, according to prison officials.
The 24 star is serving a 48-day sentence for drink-driving at the private Glendale City Jail, but is expected to be released on Monday (21Jan08) for good behaviour.
And prison spokesman John Balian insists Sutherland has been the model inmate.
He says, "He was very humble, never complained. He didn’t give us any problems at all." Sutherland was incarcerated after he was caught driving under the influence in September (07).

British comedian SACHA BARON COHEN has won a lawsuit filed against him by a woman who unwittingly appeared in his hit movie BORAT: CULTURAL LEARNINGS OF AMERICA FOR MAKE BENEFIT GLORIOUS NATION OF KAZAKHSTAN.
Etiquette teacher Kathie Martin attempted to sue Cohen, Twentieth Century, One America Productions Inc., Everyman Pictures, Dune Entertainment, MTV Networks, Comedy Central, Dakota North Entertainment Inc. and Four by Two Production Co., claiming she was embarrassed and humiliated by her appearance in the movie.
The court was told how Martin featured in the movie presenting guests at a dinner party with a bag of human faeces after giving etiquette lessons to Cohen’s character Borat.
But Alabama Supreme Court ruled Martin cannot sue Cohen and the companies that produced the movie in the state because she signed an agreement stating only courts in New York could hear any disputes that arose from her appearance.

TOM CRUISE has sparked outrage in the U.S. after accusing government officials of lying to the public in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
In new video footage promoting Scientology, the actor blasts the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for endangering the health of emergency service staff at ground zero.
He says, "The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) came out and said the air was clean. Of course as a Scientologist you go, ‘That’s a lie.’ You just go, ‘Liar.’ "Finally you say, dammit, just go there and do it. Put it there, let’s go, here’s the money, let’s go. Let’s just get one person treated. I can’t sleep another night." The Mission Impossible star provided emergency service staff with detoxification therapy based upon the works of Scientology found L. Ron Hubbard following the attack in 2001.
But Dr Kerry Kelly, the senior medical officer for the New York Fire Department, says, "It’s hard to have faith in it (Scientology rehabilitation therapy). You just stay there until you feel fine."

British funnyman STEPHEN FRY has broken his arm after falling over while filming a nature documentary in Brazil. The Gosford Park star was on location in the South American country filming BBC documentary Last Chance To See when he injured himself.
The 50-year-old was rushed to a local hospital in Tefe before being flown to the U.S. for further medical care. He is now recovering in the U.K.
A spokesperson for the BBC says, "Unfortunately Stephen has broken his right arm after slipping while filming in Brazil for a new BBC Two series. "He will have further treatment and hopes to be recovered to continue filming later in the year."

Playboy boss HUGH HEFNER will finally grant girlfriend HOLLY MADISON’s wish of becoming a mother - after agreeing to seek fertility treatment.
Madison has regularly expressed her desire to become a mother during the couple’s reality TV show The Girls Next Door.

Former British singer JIMMY NAIL has separated from his wife MIRIAM JONES.
The Evita star met Jones in 1980 and has credited her with persuading him to audition for British TV comedy Auf Wiedersehen Pet, which launched his career as an actor. A spokesman for the star says, "Jimmy Nail and Miriam Jones are no longer an item. They remain the best of friends. There will be no further comment." The couple have two sons, Tom and Fred.

Rapper ROCK of hip-hop duo HELTAH SKELTAH has been charged with attempted second degree murder.
The star, also known as Da Rockness Monstah, was arrested on Tuesday (15Jan08) after a pimp - who had links to the infamous Bloods gang of the West Coast of America - was shot in New York.
Rock - real name Jamal Bush - was charged with attempted murder and assault charges in the first degree and remanded in custody after appearing in court on Friday (18Jan08).
Bush’s lawyer, Kenneth J. Montgomery tells SOHH.com, his friends and family are making arrangements to post his $125,000 (£62,500) bail. He says, "He should be home next week on the bail package," A trial is expected to begin within six to nine months. If convicted, lawyers predict Bush could be jailed for 25 years.

Four people have come forward to back a man’s claims he was assaulted by SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS at a post-Oscar party last year (07).
The hip-hop star is accused of punching Gerard Rechnitzer in the jaw after the 27-year-old objected to Combs’ attempts to woo his fiancee at a Roosevelt Hotel party on 25 February (07).
The music mogul is now facing four eyewitness accounts backing Rechnitzer’s claims.
The witnesses gave their accounts in papers filed in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday (16Jan08) claiming Combs struck Rechnitzer in "an unprovoked fashion".
One witness, Marianna Ruiz, said in a statement, "I just kind of remember seeing him go flying, not flying as in like feet off the ground, but he went back significantly. "I was just in shock that somebody would … just kind of strike somebody out of nowhere." Rechnitzer seeks unspecified damages in the suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in March last year (07).

Singer PINK has warned that "something tragic" will soon happen if the paparazzi continue to chase celebrities wherever they go.
Less than two days after Los Angeles police charged eight photographers with reckless driving while in pursuit of Britney Spears, Pink insists that something must be done to stop snappers stalking famous people.
She says, "I feel like something tragic is going to have to happen for people to wake up and see how vulturous (sic) and poisonous it’s all gotten.
"Before it was kind of silly, how stupid everyone was. Now it’s just kind of sad and dark; it’s all gone to a totally different place."

Actress GWYNETH PALTROW is recovering after she received treatment for "a little gastrointestinal situation" at a New York hospital on Monday (14Jan08).
The Oscar winner is now "doing great", according to her friend, chef Mario Batali.
He says, "It’s now been straightened out." Video footage of Coldplay singer Martin attacking a paparazzo as he and Paltrow left the hospital hit the internet on Thursday (17Jan08).
With an anorak hood covering his face, the mild-mannered singer can be seen chasing a photographer trying to get shots of his wife, before wrestling him to the ground and grabbing his camera, while shouting, "You’ve gotta have some respect." Martin then handed the camera back to the snapper.

BACKSTREET BOY A.J. McLEAN desperately wants his friend BRITNEY SPEARS to get in touch with him so he can talk to her frankly about her troubles.
McLean believes Spears, who was committed to hospital for a psychological evaluation earlier this month (Jan08) after refusing to hand over her children during a stand-off with police, needs to openly discuss her problems with a close friend.
He says, "I believe in her 110 per cent, but she needs to call me. If her publicist or somebody can get in touch with me, I just want to sit down with her and have it out.
"First I would say, ‘What the hell is wrong with you?’ Second I would say, ‘What is really wrong with you? What are you not saying to everybody else?’ "She has given people hints of her troubles, but fear is a really big thing, and depression. I’ve been through it. I’m coming up on six years sober.
"I just want to sit her down and pick her brain. (I want to be) just someone who can tell her straight. I’ll say, ‘Hey, do you want to die? Is that what you want?’ "If that is what she really wanted, she would have done it already. I know that is not what she wants."

Troubled rocker PETE DOHERTY has been asked to help publicise the plight of a German soccer club to help it avoid bankruptcy.
The Babyshambles frontman supported local team KFC Uerdingen when he lived at a British army base near the city of Krefeld as a boy.
So KFC Uerdingen officials have now asked Doherty, who they hope will raise awareness of the club’s financial situation and increase ticket sales, to visit when his band is touring in nearby Cologne next week (begs21Jan08).
Doherty’s manager Adrian Hunter says, "I know he has some affection for the club and he would be happy to do something if he has time."

Former movie rivals ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER and SYLVESTER STALLONE are now such good pals, they meet every Saturday to smoke cigars and discuss how to run California.
After competing at the box office for years, the pair grew close after Schwarzenegger landed the job of California Governor in 2003 - and they are inseparable now.
Stallone reveals, "At one time Arnold and I were like Sodom and Gomorrah, Cane and Abel, very competitive.
"After he became governor, we started to build this relationship. We’d go to this place called Cafe Rome and smoke cigars, then they banned smoking, so the governor and I were in an alley stealing a few puffs talking about how to balance the budget. Now we meet every Saturday.
"He saw the first version of (new sequel) John Rambo. How ironic, the guy who used to be my competition. He really loved it." And Stallone has short shrift for critics of the Terminator star: "He’s a genius. Never judge a muscular book by its cover."
