BRUCE WILLIS has found an unlikely employer in lieu of the ongoing writers strike - talk show host DAVID LETTERMAN.
The "happily unemployed" Die Hard actor made a surprise appearance on Thursday night (17Jan08) when he was introduced on Letterman’s Late Show as the newest member of the show band.
Willis ad libbed vocals and played harmonica as guests including pal Sylvester Stallone were introduced.
Willis admitted a desire to show off his musical talents was not his only motivation, musing on his new gig, "I’m supporting my fellow guild members out there in Hollywood, and frankly (I’m) just a little tired of freezing my balls off out there on the picket line." The Writers Guild of America union members have been striking over new media royalties since November (07).

Singer/actress KELLY OSBOURNE has blasted Hollywood party girls like BRITNEY SPEARS and PARIS HILTON for their reckless behaviour, insisting their need for attention is absurd.
The former wild child, 23, has maintained a relatively quiet life since moving from Los Angeles to her native Britain in 2006 - and she insists the newest breed of celebrities have taken their excessive partying to new extremes.
She says, "I think for a lot of famous people press attention is an addiction. Those girls - Britney, Lindsay (Lohan), Paris and so on - are competing for the attention. It’s like, ‘Who’s going to get arrested next, get pregnant, go out without knickers and get on this week’s cover of (American magazine) Us Weekly?’ "It’s like a contest of self-loathing and I just don’t understand it. How has this turned into the fashionable thing to do? I would be absolutely mortified if I got arrested - I would be terrified of phoning my parents and telling them, and it would completely change me for the rest of my life."

DENZEL WASHINGTON has topped the list of America’s favourite movie stars for the second consecutive year.
The American Gangster star beat Tom Hanks to the number one spot in the annual Harris Poll, and Johnny Depp jumped up four positions from last year’s (07) survey to steal the number three position.
Julia Roberts was the highest ranking female at four, while late film legend John Wayne - the only actor to rank in the poll’s top 10 every year since its inception in 1994 - was placed at number six.

JERRY SEINFELD is boosting his local American football team’s chances of making this year’s (08) Super Bowl - by sending the star quarterback copies of his hit show SEINFELD.
The comedian stepped in after discovering that bosses of Green Bay Wisconsin’s Fox WLUK-TV had pulled the show from the schedules ahead of the Green Bay Packers’ championship game against the New York Giants on Sunday (20Jan08) - because it is Giants player Eli Manning’s favourite show.

JACK NICHOLSON is looking for love at 70, admitting he has been single for too long.
The legendary lothario, whose ex-girlfriends include Lara Flynn Boyle and Anjelica Huston, confesses he is still a "fool for love".
He says, "I never minded being a fool for love. It’s nice to have a place to be foolish. Ask any old friend of mine, they’ll say, ‘Jack’s pretty smart, but in this area the man is beyond the pale. Don’t ask him anything about love. Or if you ask him, don’t listen to him." But Nicholson laments he has to change his seduction technique as he grows older: "I can’t hit on a girl in public like I used to. I never thought words like ‘undignified’ would come into my own reflections on myself, but I can’t do it anymore." Italian screenwriter UGO PIRRO has died. He was 87.
He passed away on Friday (18Jan08) in his apartment in Rome, Italy, according to city officials.
Pirro was best known for his work on Oscar-winning films Indagine Su Un Cittadino al Di Sopra Di Ogni Sospetto (Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion) and Giardino dei Finzi-Contini (The Garden of the Finzi-Continis) both of which picked up the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1971 and 1972, respectively.
He was also nominated twice more for his scriptwriting.
Pirro enjoyed a career spanning over four decades and has worked with the likes of directors Lina Wertmuller and Elio Petri, and actor Gian Maria Volonte.
He is also recognised for his film adaptations of the Mafia novels of Sicilian writer Leonardo Sciascia.
Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni led the tributes to Pirro, saying the city had lost "one of the greatest screenwriters in the history of cinema". Veltroni, a former movie critic, also praised Pirro’s "extraordinary talent", "fantasy" and ability to translate modern society into works of art onscreen.
Pirro’s body will lie in state at the Casa del Cinema film institute on Saturday (19Jan08).

News outlets have been warned not to print stolen photos of actresses PENELOPE CRUZ and SALMA HAYEK - or face legal action.
Cruz lost a camera over Christmas (07), while best friend Hayek had a laptop stolen. Both include candid snaps of the stars.
The pals have recruited top Hollywood lawyer Marty Singer to try and stop the images from seeing the light of day, reports the New York Daily News.

LATEST: American TV star GARY COLLINS has been released from a California jail after completing his 96-hour sentence.
The veteran actor checked into Glendale City Jail on Monday (14Jan08) to serve time following his driving under the influence conviction in December (07).
Collins, 69, was arrested and charged in October (07) when he crashed his black Ford Explorer into a blue Toyota while driving through Sherman Oaks, California.
But his punishment is not entirely over - he will be placed on probation for four years, and must now complete 100 hours of community service.
Collins’ time behind bars was spent at the same prison where 24 star Kiefer Sutherland is being held for his September (07) DUI conviction, according to TMZ.com.

A New York woman who suffered seizures every time she heard dancehall star SEAN PAUL’s music has hailed her brain surgery a "miracle", after it cured her of the illness.
Stacy Gayle is one of just five people in the world who suffer from musicogenic epilepsy, which is triggered by particular music.
The 24-year-old’s condition only arose when she heard the Jamaican star’s music - particularly his 2006 hit Temperature.
She says, "As soon as the beat comes on, I don’t know what it is, it just triggers my seizure. It’s like a weird sensation you get, like a tingling in your head. I smelled something funny, a weird smell.
"Sean Paul was giving me seizures. I was very surprised, because he was one of my favourite artists." Doctors at New York’s Long Island Jewish Hospital carried out an operation on Gayle in October (07) - and she has been seizure-free since.
She tells the New York Post, "It’s a miracle."

Latin pop star LUIS MIGUEL has been ordered to pay a minimum of $800,000 (£400,000) to his former keyboardist ARTURO PEREZ, after he was found guilty of unfair dismissal.
The 37-year-old was accused of sacking Perez in 2005 after he was forced to miss two of the singer’s concerts due to health reasons.
And a judge in Mexico ruled in favour of Perez earlier this week (ends18Jan08), claiming Miguel had violated the law with his actions.
Perez says, "It’s always humiliating when you lose your job like that. After he fired me I never heard from him again. As an artist I think he’s Mexico’s best, but as a person, my perception of him has changed." According to Perez’s attorney Alejandro Velasquez, the final figure could rise to more than $1 million (£500,000), reports Mexican newspaper El Universal.
He adds, "In two or three months, we’ll know the final result."

Super producer MARK RONSON has lashed out at the British tabloids for upsetting his longterm girlfriend over false reports he’s having an affair with AMY WINEHOUSE.
The 32-year-old - who produced the troubled singer’s last album Back To Black - has been accused of spending the night with Winehouse at K West Hotel in London, after the pair were photographed leaving the swanky establishment on Friday (11Jan08).
However, Ronson insists there is "no possibility" of romance with the Rehab hitmaker - and he’s furious with the tabloid press for forcing him to deny the unrelenting allegations that are bringing down his girlfriend Cosi Theodoli-Brasch.
He tells WENN, "I am sick of talking about it. It’s getting very boring. Amy is a friend.
"And it is actually quite distressing for my girlfriend. She knows there’s nothing in it, but I am fed up of denying (an affair)."

LATEST: British actress SIENNA MILLER is celebrating after winning a default judgement against a photographer who took nude shots of the star during filming for her movie HIPPIE HIPPIE SHAKE.
Miller claimed the naked pictures shot by paparazzo Warren Richardson last year (07) had been taken without consent, and at a hearing at London’s High Court on Thursday (17Jan08), Mr Justice Eady granted a permanent injunction against the photographer.
Richardson had taken the "highly intrusive" photos on the closed set of Hippie Hippie Shake in Surrey, south east England, as Miller was disrobing to film a scene in a lake. The images were then sold by his employer, Xposure Photo Agency, to British tabloids The Sun and the News of the World, which published them in October (07).
But Miller was awarded $75,000 (£37,500) in damages in an invasion of privacy lawsuit filed against the photo agency and the publications’ parent company, News Group Newspapers, in December (07), after a judge ruled in her favour. In addition, they agreed not to reprint the photos and delete all existing copies.
Richardson has also promised not to use the still images in the future, and any damages will be decided at a later date. He has also been ordered to pay costs.
Miller was represented in court by her lawyer David Sherborne, as she is currently filming abroad.

Rap star 50 CENT is set to interview socialite PARIS HILTON on Sunday (20Jan08) at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
The face-to-face grilling will take place at the event’s MySpace Cafe, and will be aired online as part of the social networking site’s celebrity artist-on-artist programme.

LINDSAY LOHAN is set to spend time in a morgue as part of her community service - in a bid to show the consequences of driving under the influence.
The Mean Girls star, 21, was arrested twice last year (May07&Jul07) on charges of DUI, and was sentenced to serve four days behind bars in August (07).
She served just over 80 minutes in Lynwood jail in California in November (07), after a judge reduced the sentence and ordered her to carry out 10 days of community service - which she began in late last year (07) with the American Red Cross.
Her attorney, Blair Berk, told a judge on Thursday (17Jan08) at a progress hearing Lohan will spend two four-hour days at a morgue, and will spend a further two days in a hospital emergency room.
Lohan was not present at the hearing.

Supermodel KATE MOSS has triggered fears her advancing years are affecting her partygirl lifestyle - after collapsing into bed halfway through her 34th birthday bash.
