PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS WAS LIKE A RAP SHOW FOR LATIFAH
Hosting the low-key People’s Choice Awards was just like rapping for QUEEN LATIFAH.
The Chicago star fronted the hour-long U.S. telecast which replaced the cancelled awards ceremony earlier this month (Jan08), and admits she enjoyed the odd non-audience experience.
She says, "It was the oddest thing, but kind of cool though. I think we discovered a new format for that show." And Latifah admits the Hollywood writers strike, which led to the awards show cancellation and left her with no script, offered her a challenge.
She adds, "I had no writers so I had to freestyle a lot. I had to dig deep and go back to the days on stage rapping and coming up with ways to keep things entertaining.
"I understood that if any show must go on, the People’s Choice Awards must go on; there were 10 million people online and voting."
