SIR PAUL McCARTNEY is to honour his late first wife LINDA with an exhibition of her photographs at a London art gallery.
The former Beatles star, 65, decided on the idea with his daughter Mary in 2005, and they have been putting the final touches to the display with the help of the owner of the capital’s James Hyman Gallery.
The images featured will include work spanning from the 1960s until the late 1990s, as well as portraits of McCartney’s peers Sir Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, John Lennon and Janice Joplin.
In a statement, McCartney says, "An exhibition presenting the range of Linda’s photographic work is long overdue, so I’m obviously pleased that this show is happening.
"James Hyman, my daughter Mary, and I have worked on it now for three years, and the result is a sensitive selection of works that really demonstrates Linda’s prodigious output as a photographer.
"The photographs not only illustrate her incredible talent as an artist, but as someone who was very much connected to the culture of the times, and wasn’t afraid to challenge herself, or her subject." Linda McCartney died, aged 56, in 1998 after losing her battle with breast cancer.

LATEST: CARLA BRUNI’s mother has doubted claims the former supermodel has wed French President NICOLAS SARKOZY, insisting she would know if her daughter had married.
The couple is alleged to have exchanged vows in a super-secret ceremony in Paris last Thursday (10Jan08), just days after Sarkozy confirmed reports he and Bruni were engaged.
But Marisa Bruni claims neither she nor her other daughter, Carla’s sister, had any knowledge of the reported union.
Speaking on Italian radio, she said: "I have no information, nor does her sister who called me yesterday and said she had lunch with (Carla).
"Everything’s possible, but we are a very close family, and that would be very strange (not to inform us)." And the beauty’s mother is not the only person to cast uncertainty on the marriage reports - French Prime Minister Francois Fillon claims Sarkozy’s timetable for Thursday would not have allowed time for a wedding.
He adds, "Frankly, it seems to me that the schedule on Thursday doesn’t square with your rumours." Sarkozy and the Italian stunner reportedly became a couple late last year (07), just weeks after the French President divorced his wife Celia.

Actress COURTENEY COX has dismissed the possibility of a FRIENDS reunion because too much time has passed since the show wrapped.
The hugely successful American sitcom came to a close in 2004 after 10 years on the air - and the show’s fans have been calling for the cast to reform ever since.
But Cox - who played Monica Gellar on the popular programme - doesn’t think a reunion is likely.
The 43-year-old tells British magazine New!, "I have a feeling it’s not going to happen.
"The longer we wait, the older we get."

LATEST: GWYNETH PALTROW has returned to her New York home after she was admitted to hospital on Monday afternoon (14Jan08).
The Shakespeare In Love star stayed overnight at the city’s Mount Sinai Hospital, where she underwent treatment for an unknown ailment. She was accompanied to the medical centre by her husband, Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
Exact details surrounding her visit have been shrouded in mystery, but Paltrow’s publicist Stephen Huvane has now confirmed the actress’ hospitalisation - although he has refused to comment further on the incident.
He tells E! News, "Everything is fine - she is back at home."

JANE KRAKOWSKI was devastated to miss out the chance to reprise her role in the movie version of Broadway music NINE - but not as much as her parents.
Krakowski starred alongside Antonio Banderas during the show’s successful New York run - but director Rob Marshall opted for different leads for the big screen adaptation, due for release in 2009.

LATEST: Actress VANESSA HUDGENS has settled a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed against her by her former lawyer.
The High School Musical star, 18, was sued last month (Dec07) by ex-attorney Brian Schall, who claimed Hudgens owed him over $150,000 (£75,000) in back commissions after he helped her become a star and make over $5 million (£2.5 million) from her songwriting and recording career.
But Hudgens countered that Schall’s work was "below professional standard", and claimed that, as she only 16 at the time of signing the contract with him, she was too young for it to hold legal weight. She alleged the deal broke California’s Family Code law because she was under 18 when she signed it - a claim Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Tricia Ann Bigelow threw out in early December (07).
However, following a court hearing on Tuesday (15Jan08), the two parties have come to an agreement over the issue, although the details of which have yet to be disclosed, according to E! News.

BURT REYNOLDS has issued a threat to fans who try to steal his toupee - he’ll beat them up.
The 71-year-old admits he slips on a wig to cover up his baldness when he is in public, but he is confident he can tackle any pranksters who try to snatch it from his head.
Reynolds tells Maxim magazine, "I wear wigs once in a while. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. It’s all a joke really.
"I always say, ‘If you can get it off my head before I kick all the air out of your body, let’s do that.’ "One good thing, no matter how old I get, is that people say, ‘He’s crazy; he’ll kick you.’ I have that reputation, so I just stick with it."

WU-TANG CLAN rapper GZA is so addicted to chess, it has taken over his life.
The star, 41, spends hours each day playing with bandmates and strangers on the internet - and his obsession is starting to get in the way of his music, and eating.
GZA - real name Gary Grice - tells Maxim, "I play at home, in chess shops, I skip meals to play. In the studio, I’ll sit and play for six hours instead of finishing a song. At home, a lot of times I’m playing on Yahoo! I play like 30 games every time I go online.
"One time I played (Wu-Tang bandmate) Masta Killa 78 matches in a row. I think he had me by two games. Someday I would like to play (chess champion, Garry) Kasparov."

Legendary rockers LED ZEPPELIN are to be the subject of a new exhibition in Australia, after up to 100 rare photographs of the stars’ 1972 concert in Sydney were unearthed by snapper TED HARVEY.
Harvey rediscovered the pictures, taken during the band’s performance at the Sydney Showground, in 2005, after he was asked about his work in the 1970s.
Recalling the event, Harvey says: "I drove my van around to the back of the stage, parked and walked to the front. I was surprised I seemed to be the only press photographer there." And Harvey hopes the photographs, which will go on display at the S.H. Ervin Gallery on Saturday (19Jan08), will raise awareness for Rockphoto aid, a charity which provides funds to people in some of Brazil’s poorest neighbourhoods, reports Gigwise.com.

ISAAC HANSON cannot wait to get back on the road with his HANSON bandmates after ending a difficult 2007 in bed following a number of surgical procedures to cure him of a life-threatening illness.
The 27-year-old was first hospitalised in October (07) to undergo surgery for a pulmonary embolism, after experiencing shoulder and chest pains during a Hanson gig in Dallas, Texas.
But the guitarist was forced to return to hospital in December (07) for a second round of operations to have a rib which was pressing against a vein removed.
And the star is glad to finally be able to look to the future.
He tells People.com, "I am very excited to get out on the road. Let the rocking commence!" The singer is currently taking blood-thinning medication to prevent future clots, and he admits he has relied heavily on his wife on his road to recovery.
He adds, "Of course, my wife Nikki was watching me very carefully, to make sure I was taking it easy.
"I’m relieved to have it behind me and I really feel that the problem will no longer be an issue." Isaac Hanson hopes to resume touring with his younger brothers Taylor and Zac in March (08).

LATEST: The 2008 Grammy Awards look set to become another casualty of the Hollywood writers strike, after Writers Guild of America (WGA) union members insisted the music ceremony was "unlikely" to receive a waiver.
The annual event is under threat of cancellation after celebrities like Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, 50 Cent and Jon Bon Jovi pledged their allegiance to the WGA members, who have been on strike since November (07) over royalties.
They have reportedly vowed not to cross picket lines, echoing the stance of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) members, which resulted in Sunday’s (13Jan08) Golden Globes being reduced to a simple news conference.
And on Monday (14Jan08), WGA spokesman Gregg Mitchell announced, "While no guild decision has yet been made regarding the Grammys, if a waiver is requested for the Grammys, it is unlikely to be granted." The Grammy Awards honour the work of musicians in the recording industry, and while the WGA’s announcement will have no effect on the majority of artists, several of the nominees, such as Timberlake, Beyonce, Queen Latifah and Jack White, have appeared in movies or TV. It is also understood that members of the SAG who had been invited to present awards will not be attending the event as a result of the WGA’s refusal to issue a waiver, according to industry magazine Variety.

Comedienne and talkshow host ELLEN DeGENERES has beaten OPRAH WINFREY to be named America’s favourite TV personality in a new poll.
DeGeneres climbed up seven places from last year’s (07) Harris Poll to take the top spot, which had previously been ruled by media mogul Winfrey since 2002.
Fellow U.S. chatshow host Jay Leno came in third position, while House star Hugh Laurie and funnyman Jon Stewart rounded out the top five.

Pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON has had a lawsuit alleging assault, false imprisonment and sexual battery thrown out of court in Los Angeles after the accuser failed to turn up for the start of the trial on Monday (14Jan08).
Daniel Kapon originally launched legal action against Jackson in January 2006 in Orange County, California, before refiling the suit in L.A. two months later (Mar06). In the legal papers, 22-year-old Kapon claims the Thriller hitmaker began molesting him when he was aged two, continuing the alleged behaviour until he was 14.
He also accused Jackson of forcing him to take drugs and drink alcohol, as well as making him undergo cosmetic surgery. And Kapon goes on to allege Jackson plagiarised, stealing song ideas from him for 10 years from 1987.
But in December 2006, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rold Treu rejected a number of Kapon’s accusations - leaving Jackson to defend himself against the remaining allegations of assault, battery, false imprisonment and a sexual battery cause of action.
However, Treu dismissed the lawsuit altogether on Monday when Kapon didn’t show up for the trial.
And Jackson’s attorney, Thomas C. Mundell, is glad the suit has been thrown out, having branded the allegations "the ravings of an unbalanced celebrity stalker" in a December (07) filing.
Speaking after the judge’s ruling on Monday, Mundell added, "I think the judge realised how crazy the lawsuit was." Jackson was acquitted of unrelated child molestation charges in 2005.

Alleged video footage of TOM CRUISE’s sermons on Scientology are poised for the Internet, according to the man who claims to be in possession of the tapes.
Investigative journalist Mark Ebner is helping to post over two hours of film showing Cruise preaching to Scientology followers, some of which appeared on the web on Sunday (13Jan08), before suddenly disappearing, reports the New York Daily Post.
Ebner believes the posted footage - which reportedly appeared on gawker.com and huffingtonpost.com - was uploaded by a "consortium of church critics" who subsequently pulled it, fearing it was the property of the Church of Scientology.
However, he claims to be in ownership of reels of Cruise in action.
Ebner says, "It’s the most unintentionally hilarious footage you’ve ever seen. It’s better than Tom jumping on Oprah (Winfrey)’s couch." Representatives for the War Of The Worlds star have refused to comment on the reports.

Mexican actress VANESSA GUZMAN has become a mother for the second time after giving birth to a baby boy.
The 31-year-old star and her boyfriend, Uruguayan actor Uberto Bondoni, welcomed their first child together at a private hospital in El Paso, Texas, on Thursday (10Jan08).
