LATEST: BOBBY BROWN has jeopardised his attempt to challenge the terms of his divorce from ex-wife WHITNEY HOUSTON after failing to show up in court on Friday (04Jan08).
Brown was expected to appear before Superior Court Judge Claudia Silbar at an Orange County, California, court this week, but neither party - or their respective lawyers - turned up.
As a result of his no-show, Silbar has refused a request from Brown to appeal for spousal support and shared custody of their 14-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
Brown was not given any financial settlement and had only visitation rights after Houston won a default judgment in April 2007.
Court spokeswoman Carole Levitsky said on Friday, "His motion was denied because there were no appearances or phone calls from Mr. Brown today for a scheduled hearing.
"As of now, there are no more pending court dates in this case." The judge also used Friday’s hearing to deny a motion filed in December (07) by Brown’s attorney, Stacey Phillips, to be released as his counsel because of a series of rows with her client. That request was thrown out of court because Phillips herself had also failed to attend the hearing.
A representative for Brown has yet to comment.

Supermodel KATE MOSS’ assets rose by $4.4 million (£2.2million) in just one year - despite losing out on seven big contracts between 2006 and 2007.
The 33-year-old snapped up a record 18 contracts worth millions after interest in her peaked following her cocaine scandal in 2005. But that figure dropped to 11 in 2006, with stars like Keira Knightley and Maggie Gyllenhaal taking her place on the billboards for brands such as Coco Chanel and Agent Provocateur.
However, the decline in the number of contracts and the bad publicity she received for high-profile relationship with reformed drug addict Pete Doherty failed to make a dent in her profits. Latest figures for her firm Skate Enterprises show its assets went from $8.8 million (£4.4 million) to $13.2 million (£6.6 million) in the year to February 2007.
Moss currently has a string of lucrative deals with Versace, Bulgari and Rimmel.

LATEST: Hollywood stars like JULIA ROBERTS, KEIRA KNIGHTLEY and JOHNNY DEPP look set to boycott next weekend’s (13Jan08) Golden Globes ceremony to show their support to striking writers.
Actors represented by the Screen Actors’ Guild (SAG) are in "unanimous agreement" not to ignore the plight of the Writers Guild of America union members, who are picketing over royalties.
Announcing the union’s decision on Friday (04Jan08), SAG president, Alan Rosenberg, said, "After considerable outreach to Golden Globe actor nominees and their representatives over the past several weeks, there appears to be unanimous agreement that these actors will not cross WGA (Writers’ Guild of America) picket lines." In response to the boycott action, the WGA members thanked the SAG for its "solidarity and support".
Other stars nominated for gongs at the prestigious ceremony include George Clooney, John Travolta, Denzel Washington, Cate Blanchett and Jodie Foster all of whom are unlikely to appear at the awards show if the WGA members do not reach an agreement with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which organises the Golden Globes, in time for next Sunday (13Jan08).
Knightley, who is up for Best Actress for her starring role in Atonement, is particularly supportive of the strike, because of her playwright mother, Sharman MacDonald.
A representative for the British beauty confirms: "If the strike is still in place then Keira won’t cross a picket line as her mother is a writer."

British pop star LILY ALLEN has hit out at people who brand supermodels like KATE MOSS "role models" - because they should be looking closer to home for inspiration.
The Smile singer, 22, also refuses to acknowledge herself as a role model for her fans, because she doesn’t think she is worthy of the label.

R&B superstar MARIAH CAREY would love a voice machine like British scientist STEPHEN HAWKING - to give her wrists a rest.
The Hero hitmaker is forced to communicate though notes when resting her voice ahead of a concert.
But she believes a Hawking-style voice synthesizer is the answer to her troubles.
She explains, "Before a big show I’m not allowed to speak for two days. It’s boring writing notes.
"I need Stephen Hawking’s voice machine so I think and it comes out in a robot voice." Hawking has used the synthesizer since being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Pop superstar MADONNA sang karaoke for an Indian Maharaja during her low key visit to the Asian country.
The singer and her husband Guy Ritchie celebrated New Year’s Eve (31Dec07) in India and spent several days at a 17th-century heritage resort called Rohet Garh close to the city of Jodhpur, where they attended traditional festivities.
And the Holiday hitmaker put on an impromptu show to thank Maharaja Gaj Singhji II for his hospitality.
She says, "It was great to be in royal company.
"Lourdes and Rocco were in awe of him - they kept hugging him. It was fabulous, we sang karaoke for him." And she admits the trip has inspired her.
She adds, "Indian music is very groovy. I might release a fusion track."

American ice-skating star DOROTHY HAMILL has been diagnosed with breast cancer, it has been revealed.
The Olympic gold medallist - the ex-wife of American singer/actor Dean Paul Martin - is currently undergoing treatment at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where representatives say her prognosis is very favourable.
As a result of her treatment, Hamill has been forced to temporarily withdraw from the Broadway on Ice U.S. tour, but hopes to rejoin the tour later this month (16Jan08), reports Access Hollywood.

Actress ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY has been honoured posthumously with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Bewitched star, who died of colorectal cancer in 1995, aged 62, was remembered in a special unveiling ceremony in Los Angeles on Friday (04Jan08), attended by her widower, actor Robert Foxworth.
Revealing the honour, Hollywood Mayor Johnny Grant said, "(She) is probably in the heavens laughing at us as we stand in the rain." Foxworth added, "It is a great tribute to her that there are so many of you here."

Former pop star VANESSA PARADIS is disgusted by a film of herself performing as a provocatively dressed teenager.
The French star - the long-term partner of actor Johnny Depp - admits she has only recently seen footage of her singing the 1987 track Joe Le Taxi.
In the clip, - which has been viewed by almost 330,000 visitors to video-sharing website YouTube.com - Paradis is seen wearing a short, tight skirt and dancing provocatively.
But she is now full of regret over the stunt.
She says, "I wish someone had advised me. I’ve seen quite recently some clips from when I was 14 and I’m not proud of it. I look at the way I was dressed and made up and the way I would dance and I just want to say: ‘Euugh. Stop it! "I was going to school and I had the ‘Joe le Taxi’ song out that was making me trouble all over the world. It’s not easy to grow up, but to grow up famous, it’s worse. In France it became a really big phenomenon and it was very casual, this torturing of a child. It was happening to me every day – relentless."

Hip-hop veteran ERIC ‘O.G. STYLE’ WOODS has died suddenly from a brain aneurysm.
The rap pioneer was rushed to St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Texas on Wednesday night (02Jan08), but had to be put on life support after slipping into a coma following a brain haemorrhage.
Various internet reports claim Woods’ heart stopped several times while in the coma, but he was kept alive by the life support machine in order to allow visiting friends and family to say their goodbyes.
Woods’ condition failed to improve overnight and on Thursday (03Jan08), his wife gave permission for doctors to take him off life support. He passed away late on Thursday (03Jan08), aged 37.
The star, a native of Houston, Texas, started out in the music industry in 1986. He performed as Prince Ezzy-E, before going on to form the group O.G.
Style with the late producer/DJ Big Boss, and changing his moniker to Original E. The duo’s one and only album, I Know How To Play Em’, spawned the hit single Catch ‘Em Slippin’ in 1991. When Boss left in the mid-1990s, Woods kept the name and became known as a solo artist as O.G. Style.
Woods continued working right up until a week before his death, and his teenage son, also called Eric, plans to complete the project - a collaboration with local rapper Smurk.
Smurk says, "He (Woods) had another new album he was working on. This was just untimely, man. When I went to see him at the hospital last night, his son told me, ‘We’re still gonna get it done.’ I told him I was gonna hold him to that." Woods is survived by his wife Shelley, their five children, his father and his three siblings.

Trump tells U.S. news show Extra, "I don’t know what’s going on with that family. That family seems to be a mess. It’s a shame.
"You always have to blame the parents, at least to a degree. But ultimately they’re (Britney and Jamie Lynn) almost old enough to make a decision."

Republican presidential candidate MIKE HUCKABEE signed off as Arkansas Governor by handing ROLLING STONES rocker KEITH RICHARDS a pardon.
The former hellraiser had a 32-year-old traffic violation on his record, until rock fan and bass guitar player Huckabee offered to wipe his slate clean when he left office last year (07).
Huckabee - who leads the race to represent the Republican Party in the battle for the White House - reveals, "One of my last acts as governor was to issue a pardon for a traffic violation that he had in 1975 when he and (bandmate) Ronnie Wood were driving through Arkansas. He got pulled over for a reckless-driving charge.
"I was a college student when it happened, and I was so embarrassed. I thought ‘Golly, we finally got The Rolling Stones in Arkansas, and what do we do?’ "They played a concert while I was governor, and I was invited backstage to meet the band. I’m having this conversation with Keith, and he’s telling me that he’d been in Arkansas before. And I said, ‘Keith, I can pardon you and get that off your record. You can have a clean start in Arkansas.’"

LATEST: Troubled singer BRITNEY SPEARS’ visitation rights to see her two sons have been temporarily suspended after she was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital for mental evaluation.
The 26-year-old was taken to the city’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Thursday (03Jan08) night following a stand-off with police at her Beverly Hills mansion when she refused to hand over her boys to ex-husband Kevin Federline after a scheduled visit.
Spears is now being held at the hospital under Section 5150, meaning medics have reason to believe she is a danger to herself or others.
On Friday (04Jan08), a judge awarded Federline "sole legal custody and sole physical custody" of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, at an emergency hearing.
The custody order lasts until 14 January (08).
Following the 40-minute hearing, Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said, "There are no winners here… (I’m) not happy about any of the events that have happened." Meanwhile, Spears’ mother Lynne has asked her daughter’s fans to "just say prayers" for the troubled star.

LATEST: BRITNEY SPEARS will not be charged with any offence following a stand-off with police at her Beverly Hills, California mansion on Thursday (03Jan08) night.
The troubled singer was admitted to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after the incident, which occurred when she refused to hand over her two boys to ex-husband Kevin Federline after a scheduled visit.
Spears is now under close observation at the hospital, where she is being held under Section 5150, meaning medics have reason to believe she is a danger to herself or others.
However, police will not be charging Spears over the incident, which they are treating as a domestic dispute.
A police spokesperson says, "We do not have plans to charge her.
"There was nothing criminal here and as far as the LAPD is concerned the case was closed last night as soon as the children were handed over to their father."
