Country star CHARLEY PRIDE is to receive a lifetime achievement award from his home state of Mississippi.
The 69-year-old singer, who hails from the town of Sledge, will be honoured by the state’s Arts Commission in a ceremony on 8 February (08).
Pride, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000, is the only performer to be recognised by the Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts.
The hitmaker scored 29 number one singles in the U.S. during his glittering career, which has spanned over 30 years.
