The Sk8er Boi hitmaker was scheduled to perform the countdown to midnight at New York’s Prive club on Monday, but was reportedly left "visibly upset" after the hip-hop star "grab his own mike and steal (sic) the show", according to New York gossip column PageSix.
The source tells the publication Lavigne, 23, wailed to husband Deryck Whibley, "I wanted to do the countdown!" A spokesman for the star was unavailable for comment.

DENZEL WASHINGTON’s new movie THE GREAT DEBATERS has been slammed for its historical inaccuracies - by the college students the film is based on.
In the film, which Washington also directed, the Oscar winner plays a Texas professor who takes his African-American students to debate the great minds at Harvard in the 1930s.
But although the film is based on the true story of the debating team at Texas’ Wiley College, Harvard’s participation is fictional.
Wiley beat the reigning champs, but they were actually student debaters from the University of Southern California.
A source tells New York gossip column PageSix, "The Wiley team never wrote to Harvard, never debated Harvard, never beat Harvard "And no Harvard administrator would have ever referred to the university as an all-white college since it had long been integrated." But Washington defends the inaccuracies, telling the Harvard Crimson student newspaper: "We set the debate here because Harvard is the gold standard.
"Harvard just sounded better, to be quite honest."

The woman accused of attacking LEONARDO DiCAPRIO faces an extradition order that will force her back to the U.S. from Canada to face the charges.
Aretha Wilson, 37, is believed to have slashed the Hollywood actor with a beer bottle at a party in 2005. A warrant was issued for her arrest after the incident on 20 June 2005, charging her with one count of assault with a deadly weapon, but she failed to turn herself into authorities and has since been arrested in Canada. DiCaprio, 33, is said to have suffered great bodily harm during the attack.
Wilson is currently in police custody in Toronto, Canada, in connection with a separate case of aggravated assault. Prosecutors are waiting to hear whether the charge against Wilson is an extraditable offence.

LATEST: A BBC children’s presenter arrested on suspicion of murdering his girlfriend is "absolutely distraught" over her death.
Mark Speight was arrested in connection with the demise of his partner Natasha Collins, who was found dead in the bath of the north London home they shared on Thursday (03Jan08).
But he has denied any involvement in her death, according to a statement released on his behalf.
The statement reads, "Mark has been questioned by the police on account of the fact that the body of his fiancee was found in the flat they shared.
"At the moment no one knows what happened. Mark found her body in the bathroom and immediately called an ambulance and the police.
"Mark was the only other person present in the flat and has therefore been questioned by police as a matter of course." Speight has been bailed until the first week of February (08) on suspicion of murder and supplying cocaine.
The cause of Collins’ death has not yet been revealed. However, a Metropolitan Police spokesman says it is being treated as "unexplained".

Moviemaker FANG LI has blasted Chinese authorities for banning his film for its "unhealthy and inappropriate promotional materials".
Producer Li is furious Lost In Beijing - which is set in a massage parlour in Beijing - has been banned, despite already being heavily censored for its sexually explicit content.
The film was released in Chinese cinemas on 30 November (07) after scenes showing dirty streets, prostitutes and gambling were removed from the movie.
But the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television claims the film still violated regulations.
Its producers have been banned from making films in China for two years.
Li believes the decision was made following the widespread availability of uncut, pirated versions of the movie which he did not sanction.
He says, "Why would I give the movie to pirates and hurt my own movie? We are the victims of piracy. We are the biggest victims." The drama - centred on the rape of a masseuse and her subsequent pregnancy was screened at the Berlin Film Festival in February 2007.
It also won a jury prize at the Bangkok International Film Festival last July (07).

U.S. TV presenter DAVID LETTERMAN’s pay deal with his talk show’s striking writers couldn’t save him from a ratings beating at the hands of rival JAY LENO.
Both shows returned to the air on Wednesday night (02Jan08) after two months away while members of the Writer’s Guild of America picketed producers for better contracts.
Letterman’s production company, Worldwide Pants, secured a deal with writers ahead of this week’s shows, while Leno’s writers are still out in the cold. But even without a team of comedians behind him, Leno’s NBC show still secured almost two million more viewers than his rival on CBS.
According to early ratings, 7.2 million viewers tuned into The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and 5.5 million watched The Late Show with David Letterman.
Both shows recorded higher figures than before the strike. Leno has consistently beaten Letterman in the ratings for the past 14 years.

SUPERMAN RETURNS star BRANDON ROUTH has been dropped from the movie franchise’s sequel - along with director BRYAN SINGER, according to reports.
A younger Superman will appear in Superman: Man Of Steel - effectively replacing 28-year-old Routh - as the story focuses on the superhero’s relationship with fellow DC Comics characters The Justice League.
Moviemaker Singer is "too busy" working on other projects to commit to the sixth movie in the superhero franchise, reports Variety.
It is hoped shooting on Superman: Man Of Steel will begin after the Hollywood writers strike is resolved.

Broadway star JAMES BARBOUR is facing a two month jail sentence after he confessed to groping a 15-year-old girl in his dressing room.
The 41-year-old agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in return for 60 days in jail.
Barbour admitted to Manhattan Superior Court on Thursday (03Jan07) that he lured a high school student back to his dressing room in 2001 after a teacher arranged for her and her parents to see him in a production of Jane Eyre.
The actor - who also played the Beast in Beauty and the Beast - revealed he touched the aspiring actress sexually. He then arranged for her to visit him at home, where he touched her again.
Barbour’s lawyer Ronald P. Fischetti claims the girl - now 22 - initiated the contact, and has asked a court to allow him to publish ads, featuring the girl’s name, asking men if she has filed false claims against them.
He told reporters, "She initiated both of these sexual encounters and then waited five years before filing a complaint against him." Fischetti added that his client only pleaded guilty to avoid being added to the sex offenders’ register.
He said, "By pleading guilty to misdemeanors, he doesn’t have to register (as a sex offender), and that’s important.
"He wouldn’t have been able to travel without reporting, and he wouldn’t have been able to work with children."

Actress VIVICA A. FOX has hit out at claims a former lover is touting a tape of them having sex.
Blogger Sandra Rose this week (ends04Jan08) claimed the man had emailed pals phone footage of Fox, 43, performing oral sex on him - and that the actress had contacted the police.
Radio presenter Porsche Foxx from Atlanta, Georgia, has also "confirmed that her close friend Vivica Fox appears in a controversial sex tape".
But Fox’s manager, Lita Richardson, tells the New York Daily News, "It’s not true." The star was last month (Dec07) charged with drink driving, following her arrest in early 2006. She is currently shooting a movie called Caught On Tape.

BEACH BOY BRIAN WILSON has destroyed his image as a Sixties surf rock icon - by confessing he is too scared to set foot on a surf board.
Wilson famously posed with surf boards on the band’s album covers and recorded tracks and LPs with titles such as Surfin’ Safari, Surfin’ USA, Surfer Girl and Surf’s Up.

The FOO FIGHTERS are searching for an undiscovered musician to join them on stage at the 2008 Grammy Awards.
The rockers have launched the My Grammy Moment contest to find a string, woodwind or brass player ahead of next month’s (Feb08) ceremony.
Entrants must submit a 60-second video of them playing the band’s recent single The Pretender by midnight on 20 January (08).
A panel of judges will then select 45 finalists who will go on to face a public vote to decide who will join the group for their orchestral performance at the event on 10 February (08).
The Pretender is nominated for Best Song at this year’s awards, while the band is also tipped to receive the accolade for Best Rock Album for last year’s (07) Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace.
Justin Timberlake was the first artist to be featured in the My Grammy Moment competition last year (07), when he invited singer Robyn Troup to join him onstage.

Three hotel workers in Canada have been arrested following the theft of a guitar signed by ALICE COOPER.
The kind-hearted rocker had donated the $3,000 (£1,500) Les Paul in December (07) to be sold at a forthcoming charity auction. The guitar was then left at the hotel’s front desk for safekeeping prior to the fundraiser.
Police were contacted when CCTV footage of staff members at the Ontario Hilton showed a 23-year-old woman stealing the instrument on 27 December (07).
Two other employees were arrested in connection with the incident, reports Gigwise.com.
All three employees face charges of burglary, theft, and possession of stolen property.

Former JUICE CREW member TRAGEDY KHADAFI has been sentenced to four years in jail after he was found guilty of dealing drugs.
The rapper - real name Percy Chapman - was convicted in a New York court last Thursday (27Dec07) for a class C felony for criminal sale of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, following his arrest during a recent drugs bust.
The 36-year-old is likely to serve the full four-year sentence for the crime due to a previous conviction, and is scheduled to be released from Riker’s Island prison on 21 January, 2011.

Rapper T.I. will have to wait several more weeks before he can argue his case against various weapons charges, after a judge postponed a Thursday (03Jan08) hearing for next month (Feb08).
The Bring ‘Em Out star, real name Clifford Harris Jr., was arrested in October (07) while allegedly trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers. He is currently being held on house arrest and faces counts for possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.
But the MC’s Thursday hearing at an Atlanta, Georgia, court was postponed by U.S. Magistrate Alan Baverman until 19 February (08) - however, it is unknown why the judge ordered the date to be rescheduled.
Harris’ legal team was expected to call for key government evidence obtained during the raid to be dismissed, claiming a search of his vehicle was conducted with "a warrant, consent or probable cause".

Two Texas police officers have been given administrative leave after allegedly holding country singer STEVE HOLY at gunpoint.
The Dallas County district attorney’s office is considering whether to file aggravated assault charges against Randy Anderson, 25, and Paul Loughridge, 48, after the incident which occurred last month (Dec07).
The men met Holy and a friend in a bar in Dallas on 27 December (07) before accompanying them home for a game of football. However, following a heated argument over Holy’s profession as a singer, the off-duty officers allegedly forced the star down on to the kitchen floor and held a gun to his head. Holy was eventually allowed to go upstairs to find documents to prove his fame, where he immediately told his wife to call for emergency services.

The ‘99 Problems’ rapper left the music label after realising he makes more money as an ‘artist and entrepreneur’ than as a record executive, and will now focus on opening more nightclubs and his own ‘chic’ hotel.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: ‘Jay just didn’t have time to be president of Def Jam. It wasn’t making him as much money as his other projects. He makes more from being a recording artist and entrepreneur.

Last year, Jay-Z was named the second highest earning musician in the world by US magazine Forbes, with annual earnings of $83 million. His other business interests include a stake in the New Jersey Nets basketball team.

The U2 rocker is the 25th musician to team up with Hard Rock International to produce a garment for their Signature Series, which was started in 1990 to benefit the artist’s charity of choice.
Bono’s creation features a fish soaring through the moon and stars and is adorned with the words ‘Fish Can Fly’ and his signature.
Proceeds from the shirts will go to the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Conservation Cotton Initiative, which helps educate impoverished African farmers.
The shirts are available in blue on a white background for women and red on black for men.
The Bono Signature Series T-shirt - which will be produced by the socially conscious clothing company EDUN founded by Bono and his wife Ali Hewson - will be available from Monday (07.01.08) online at www.hardrock.com/rockshop and at Rock Shops at Hard Rock Cafes, Hotels and Casinos.
