WATSON’S EYESIGHT RISK
British opera star RUSSELL WATSON is risking damage to his eyesight with treatment he began yesterday to kill off a recurrent brain tumour.
The 41-year-old tenor faces 25 days of radiotherapy over the next five weeks to fight a growth near his optic nerve.
Richard Thompson, Watson’s manager, says, "It will be very arduous. The doctors have got to be careful not to damage the eyesight." Watson, who may also lose his hair during his care at Christie Hospital in Manchester, England, admits, "It’s been a strange new year." He had surgery on the tumour last October (07), his second operation on the cancer in 12 months.
