NATIONAL TREASURE ENDS 2007 ON A HIGH
NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS will start 2008 at the top of the U.S. box office with takings of $124 million (£62 million).
The Nicolas Cage movie took $35.6 million (£17.8 million) over the weekend (29+30Dec07) to keep it ahead of surprise hit Alvin and the Chipmunks, which rose to second place with opening weekend takings of $30 million (£15 million).
I Am Legend slipped to third with weekend receipts of $27.5 million (£14.6 million); followed by Charlie Wilson’s War, with $11.7 million (£5.6 million); and Juno with $10.3 million (£5.2 million).
