BROWN’S CHILDREN CHALLENGE WILL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:25 am

Five of JAMES BROWN’s children are set to contest their late father’s will.
When the legendary singer died in 2006 he left most of his estate to trusts set up to educate his grandchildren and for charities to help disadvantaged young people.
But several of Brown’s offspring are launching a legal battle in a bid to secure a portion of the money for themselves.
Deanna Brown Thomas, Venisha Brown, Daryl Brown, Yamma Brown Lumar and Larry Brown have all filed papers with Aiken County Probate Court in South Carolina. Brown’s adult children have been fighting with the trustees of their father’s estate since he died, claiming a $7 million (£3.5 million) chunk of the star’s fortune had been misappropriated.
And now the dispute looks set to be settled in court.
Their lawyer Louis Levenson insists doubt has been cast on whether Brown intended to leave most of his money to charity.
He says, "There was sporadic indication that Mr Brown intended to benefit some charities, but the circumstances surrounding the making of these documents have always been clouded in mystery." A sixth child of the star, Terry Brown, is also contesting the will using a different lawyer.
