British actor RUPERT EVERETT has backed out of having a double-headed eagle tattooed onto the back of his head - because his Jewish friends claimed it was a Nazi insignia.
The eccentric Shrek the Third star, 48, was hoping to get a massive "mid-life crisis" tattoo inked all over his scalp, until the anti-Semitic allegations put him off.
He says, "I shaved my head a month ago, because I was going to get this tattoo done, but everyone objected to it. "I was always dying to have a tattoo on the back of the head, because you can always cover it up with hair if you get bored with it. "I wanted a double-headed eagle, but some Jewish friends took umbrage. They said it was a Nazi insignia and implied I was becoming a Nazi. But a double-headed eagle isn’t a Nazi thing, it’s Russian orthodox, it’s the Romanov eagle. But there’s no point in upsetting people…"

KITT the talking car from hit 1980s TV series KNIGHT RIDER has been put up for sale on eBay to pay off the debts of its murdered owner.
The 1982 Pontiac Trans Am - one of just four made for the last series of the David Hasselhoff-fronted show - was listed on the auction site earlier this week (beg17Dec07) but has yet to attract any bids.
It is being sold by lawyer Patrick Gil, the executor of the estate of property developer Andrew Kissel. Kissel was found stabbed to death in New York in April 2006, before he could plead guilty to a multi-million dollar fraud case. He died owing tens of millions of dollars, much of which has been recovered by creditors from the sale of his properties.
The car - which Kissel bought for $69,000 (£34,500) in 2005 - has a reserve of $20,000 (£10,000).

Former LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE child star JASON BATEMAN was driven to drink and drugs because of an "identity crisis" he suffered during a 10-year lull in his television career.
The actor, who shot to fame aged 11 in the TV classic, enjoyed stardom throughout his teens but when his career subsequently stalled he suffered an emotional meltdown.
He explains, "I loved the attention, the travel, not having to go to school.
What’s difficult is, you get used to it.
"You’re not smart enough to intellectualise that it’s something that might not last.
"There was a period of correction between the ages of 20 and 30 where I had an identity crisis. You wonder if the whole rest of your life is going to be anti-climatic." Bateman’s career - which in the 1990s consisted mainly of movie bit-parts was revived when he was offered a part in cult U.S. sitcom Arrested Development, in 2003.

SPIDER-MAN 3 has been named the most mistake-riddled movie of 2007 by British filmgoers.
Fans have counted over 157 errors in the latest installment of the superhero franchise, as compiled by U.K

. The continuity mishaps included showing Cleveland, Ohio’s Terminal Tower in view during Spider-Man’s fight with the Sandman - despite the scene being set in New York.
But it’s not just the makers of Spider-Man 3 who are facing criticism - movie bloopers in 2007 are at an all-time high with almost 1000 spotted so far, up on last year’s (06) total.
Jon Sandys, of moviemistakes.com, says, "As movie budgets get ever-larger, you’d think they would be able to find the cash to clear up the more blatant errors, but there’s just no slow-down in the mistakes being made

A re-discovered letter from MARLENE DIETRICH exposes the Hollywood star’s hidden fury at FAYE DUNAWAY - for her "shameful" portrayal of movie great JOAN CRAWFORD. The angry missive, written more than 25 years ago, accuses Dunaway of only starring in 1981 film Mommie Dearest to "pay her liquor bills".
Dietrich’s letter, which auctioned off at Christie’s in London for $1500 (£750) on Wednesday (19Dec07), also lashes out at Crawford’s adopted daughter, Christine, for writing the book on which the movie was based.
The tome, painted a less than flattering portrait of the star - chronicling the abuse Christine allegedly suffered at the hands of her mother.
Writing to her friend at Paramount Studios, Peter Bankers, Dietrich blasts, "Fay Dunaway (sic) should be ashamed of herself, but then she probably needed the money to pay her liquor bills." She adds, "I am shocked that Paramount bought that filthy book and made that frightful b*tch who wrote it (Christine Crawford) rich.
"I did not know Joan Crawford, but nobody deserves that kind of slaughter."

THE WHO frontman ROGER DALTREY has likened the band’s performance at British music festival Glastonbury to the tortuous Battle of Passchendaele during World War 1. The band famously headlined the final evening of the three-day event with rain lashing down so hard, the whole site turned into a mudbath.
But still the show went down as one of Glastonbury’s most memorable performances.
Daltrey tells British newspaper The Sun, "We thought ‘Who the f**k’s going to be here after three days of horrendous weather?’ It was like Paschendaele.
"The conditions were horrendous and you think no one is going to stay to the end. It was like the 70s when the crowds got bigger."

American singer/songwriter RUFUS WAINWRIGHT feared for his sanity towards the end of his JUDY GARLAND tribute tour - because he was sick of hearing the diva’s hits.
Wainwright - who famously packed out New York’s Carnegie Hall in 2006 with a performance of the iconic star’s best-loved songs - went on to perform the show, in full Garland costume, at a string of venues around the world, as well as releasing a CD and DVD of the concerts.
Now he admits he’s relieved to have returned to performing his own material.

Music manager SIMON COWELL is considering launching legal proceedings against iTunes - after fans were prevented from downloading one of his top client’s singles.
Massive demand for British X Factor winner Leon Jackson’s debut single caused the music firm’s servers to crash shortly after it went on sale on Saturday (16Dec07).
As a result thousands of fans were unable to purchase the single, When You Believe, which logged a disappointing 36,669 sales in three days - and record label bosses are reportedly fuming.
An insider at the Cowell-owned SonyBMG tells British newspaper The Sun, "Everybody here is up in arms. "There’s been a monumental cock up. Simon is hugely disappointed about the situation and is considering launching legal proceedings. "Everybody is really upset for Leon and don’t want technical malfunctions to mar his big week." Miami rapper PITBULL has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI). The Latino hip hop star - real name Armando Perez - was booked into Miami’s county jail in the early hours of Friday (21Dec07) morning.
As WENN went to press, representatives for the Miami-Dade county jail had not yet provided information on the DUI charge. However the rapper is expected stand in front of a judge and be released on a $1,000 (£500) bond on Friday (21Dec07) afternoon, according to AllHipHop.com.
Pitbull’s latest album - his fourth - hit U.S. stores last month (27Nov07).
The Cuban-American star also goes under the nicknames Lil’ Chico or Mr. 305.

LATEST: JAMIE-LYNN SPEARS is planning to marry the father of her unborn child CASEY ALDRIDGE, his pastor uncle reveals.
Britney’s TV star sister shocked the world when she announced this week (beg17Dec07) she is pregnant at the age of 16, with 18-year-old Aldridge’s child.
Subsequent reports have suggested the pair are set to split - but Adridge’s uncle, Reverend Odus Jackson claims they are smitten and have discussed marriage.

Shop assistants in New York prefer GWYNETH PALTROW’s daughter APPLE to her father CHRIS MARTIN - deeming her much more "polite".
The Coldplay rocker has been criticised for behaving rudely to store clerks on a recent shopping trip in New York while his three-year-old daughter was praised for her friendly attitude.

Hollywood supercouple BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE gave a California shop owner his very own Christmas miracle - by boosting the struggling stores sales after visiting the premises and leaving an enormous tip.
The owner of a North Hollywood toy and flower shop - aptly named The Blessing - couldn’t believe his luck when the famous pair strolled in to buy gifts for their multi-cultural brood - Maddox, six, Pax, three, Zahara, two, and biological daughter, 17-month-old Shiloh.
The couple posed for pictures with the store owner’s family and bought $70 (£35) worth of items - then gave him a generous $130 (£65) tip.

British TV show DOCTOR WHO has been slammed by religious groups for portraying the Time Lord as a JESUS-like figure.
The Christmas special of the cult programme uses religious imagery including robotic angels - to portray David Tennant’s leading character as a futuristic saviour.
However, the move has angered several Christian organisations who have labelled the comparison to Jesus as "completely inappropriate." Stephen Green, spokesman for evangelical group Christian Voice, says, "The Doctor would have to do a bit more than the usual prancing about to be a messiah.
"He has to save people from their sins." But Russell T. Davies, the programme’s writer and executive producer, has hit back at the accusations.
He says, "The series lends itself to religious iconography because the Doctor is a proper saviour. He saves the world through the power of his mind and his passion."

DANCING WITH THE STARS double champion CHERYL BURKE is back on her feet - after a crippling bout of abdominal pains forced her to pull out of the opening night of the show’s tour.
The 23-year-old missed the first two dates in America’s Dancing With The Stars tour, after being taken ill during the show’s dress rehearsal on Tuesday (18Dec07) complaining of agonising lower stomach cramps.
Burke was rushed to a Seattle hospital, where she was treated and discharged the following day.
The mystery illness caused her to sit out on two shows - Tuesday (18Dec07) in Seattle, Washington, and Thursday (20Dec07) in Sacramento, California.
However the star’s publicist says she’s now on the mend, and will be joining the cast on stage in San Jose, California, on Friday (21Dec07).
This is the third consecutive tour for Burke, who is dancing on the road with her season two partner Drew Lachey.
