BLIGE BLAMES PARENTS FOR TROUBLED STARS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

R&B singer MARY J. BLIGE blames a lack of strong parental guidance for the troubles of stars including BRITNEY SPEARS, LINDSAY LOHAN and PARIS HILTON.
Blige claims the main reason many young celebrities are so badly behaved is because there’s nobody in their entourages who’s prepared to disagree with them.
She says, "In a business like the music business, too much success too soon for a young person can drive them crazy.
"If there’s no parental guidance to say, ‘You know, your environment isn’t right. Change it up,’ or something like that… Because everyone’s saying yes to everything you do, everything’s cool, everything you do is hot." And Blige, who has herself battled alcohol and drug addictions, admits her problems had a lot to do with surrounding herself with the wrong kind of people.
She adds, "When I finally woke up and was able to see my environment, I got out of there because they were killing my career, they were killing everything that was going to make me better.
"No one would tell me the truth, and no one’s telling them (today’s troubled stars) the truth and that’s the problem."

SPEARS BARRED FROM HOTEL AFTER ONE WILD BASH TOO MANY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

LATEST: BRITNEY SPEARS was banned from her favourite Los Angeles hotel after her wild parties upset a wealthy resident.
The singer was turned away from the Four Seasons hotel in Los Angeles last weekend (16Dec07) by staff who told her "you’re not authorised to come in here".
U.S. tabloid National Enquirer claims Spears was blacklisted after ignoring repeated warnings the noisy parties she held in the luxury Presidential Suite were disturbing a high-paying resident who lives in the room below.
During one particularly boisterous stay, the guest complained and threatened to move out - so the hotel manager ordered security guards to escort Spears from the premises, and barred her from returning.
The Toxic superstar had become a regular there in recent weeks, taking trips to and from the hotel up to four times a day. She even spent visitation time with her two young children there.

MENDES THRILLED TO BARE ALL FOR PETA

Sexy EVA MENDES is delighted to be back in favour with activists at People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals after upsetting them with a fur coat faux-pas.
The actress is PETA’s latest poster girl, baring all for a saucy new ‘I’d Rather Go Naked… Than Wear Fur’ campaign.
And Mendes admits she was more than happy to strip for the billboard, which she unveiled in Los Angeles on Thursday (20Dec07), after learning she was off PETA officials’ naughty list, where she landed after wearing a fur coat to a 2003 movie premiere.
She recalls, "I was so floored by what they (PETA) said that I said, ‘I promise I will never do it again.’" Mendes actually likes the idea of appearing naked on huge billboards in America’s leading cities.
She tells online blogger Marc Malkin, "It’s very tasteful. It’s all in fun.
It’s got a flirtatious, fun spirit about it. It’s not like come hither or anything like that."

MELANIE GRIFFITH and DON JOHNSON’s teenage daughter DAKOTA is planning a sober 2008 after secretly undergoing rehab treatment, according to U.S. reports.

JOLIE CRITICISES PRESS COVERAGE OF WEIGHTLOSS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:36 pm

ANGELINA JOLIE has hit back at the media’s coverage of her recent weightloss because there was too much focus on how she looked in skinny jeans and not enough on her emotional trauma following the death of her mother.
Jolie admits the stress caused by her mum Marcheline Bertrand’s death from cancer in January (07) led to the weight issue.
She tells British magazine Grazia, "The thing that’s disturbing is that instead of people saying, ‘This looks like a person that’s actually dealing with something, probably from emotions,’ they say, ‘Does she fit into skinny jeans and look thin?’ "I want people to understand who I am as a person is not somebody that’s trying to look thin, but just trying to work through a very difficult year."

REPORT: ‘NO POLICE COVER-UP IN GIBSON ARREST’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

LATEST: An independent panel of investigators who reviewed the way police handled MEL GIBSON’s 2006 drink-driving arrest has concluded nobody tried to cover the incident up.
The Braveheart star, 51, was taken into custody in July 2006 in Malibu, California after he was caught speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway.
Police initially told the world’s media the arrest went "without incident" but leaked details suggested Gibson had verbally abused arresting officer James Mee with anti-Semitic remarks.
Three employees at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have been disciplined for violating police policy in relation to Gibson’s arrest, but the Office Of Independent Review has concluded there was no deliberate cover-up.
According to website TMZ.com, the report reads: "Because of a concern about certain information gathered during the arrest falling prematurely into the hands of media sources and because there was no clear departmental guidance provided on how to handle this scenario presented, supervisors made spontaneous decisions with regard to how to package the information and describe the arrest.
"While these decisions do no indicate a violation of department policy, and were fairly sensible, they do point out the need for creating a thoughtful and systematic approach for how to handle future similar scenarios."

PLANS AFOOT FOR TINA TURNER: THE MUSICAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

A bizarre musical tracing the life of TINA TURNER is heading for the London stage.
The show, based on Turner’s autobiography, will be called Simply The Best, according to reports.
It will chart everything from the singer’s youth as Anna Mae Bullock, through her abusive marriage to the late Ike Turner, to her subsequent solo superstardom.
The musical will feature hits like Private Dancer, Let’s Stay Together and What’s Love Got to Do With It? Insiders claim the plot will include links to Egyptian mythology.
A source tells the New York Post, "(In one scene) the Egyptian queen (Hatshepsut) watches over Tina. When Ike pulls a gun on Tina, Hatshepsut shields her and the gun ‘leaps’ out of Ike’s hand." The star’s life has been explored dramatically a number of times, including in the film What’s Love Got to Do With It, which cast Angela Basset as Turner, and in River Deep, A Tribute To Tina Turner, a 2006 musical inspired by the star’s autobiography I, Tina.

PARTON DEFENDS BROTHER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

Country star DOLLY PARTON has blasted the North Carolina dinner theatre bosses who fired her brother for onstage drunkeness.
The singer’s younger brother, Randy, was sacked from his namesake theatre in Roanoke Rapids at the beginning of the month (06Dec07) after venue bosses reportedly found him under the influence of alcohol.
But his big sister insists Randy is just being used as "a scapegoat" for a failing enterprise.
She says, "I know in my heart that Randy gave it his best effort.
Unfortunately, now things aren’t working as well as everyone hoped, everyone is pointing fingers and naturally no one wants to take the blame." Randy Parton, who has occasionally performed in his sister’s band, was also reported to have sworn at audience members during a show in the days leading up to his dismissal.

EAGLES TURNED DOWN SUPER BOWL OFFER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS were the second choice to perform at the Super Bowl next year (08) - the EAGLES were approached to play the half-time show and turned organisers down.
According to music magazine Rolling Stone, the Hotel California hitmakers refused to play at the American football final in Arizona and gave no reason for declining the offer.
Meanwhile, drummer/singer Don Henley insists the group would not turn down the chance to play at country mecca the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee - if he and his bandmates were asked.
He says, "That would be an honour… Certainly, country is one of the last bastions of good songwriting - and of singing in tune.
"Country music is now akin to what my generation was listening to in the ’60s and ’70s."
