Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:06 pm

MELANIE BROWN is spicing up THE SPICE GIRLS’ current world tour - by playing pranks on her unsuspecting bandmates.
The fun-loving singer insists the reunion tour - which is set to visit six continents on more than 40 dates - has grown repetitive, and that her backstage high jinks prevent the rest of the group from feeling bored. She says, "The show is in our muscle memory now but there is the occasional fumble. It is all a part of it - making mistakes and having a laugh about it.
"I play a lot of pranks backstage. I like pinching bums throughout the show and giving Emma a little smack here and there."

EVERETT SLAMS HOLLYWOOD HEAVYWEIGHTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:57 pm

British actor RUPERT EVERETT has launched a scathing attack on Hollywood legends AL PACINO and ROBERT DE NIRO, branding them "tragic parodies" of the icons they once were.
The 48-year-old insists the film industry has deteriorated into shallow, celebrity-obsessed "trash" - and blames its biggest players for perpetuating the trend.
He says, "De Niro, (Robert) Redford, (Diane) Keaton, (Woody) Allen, Pacino they’re all just tragic parodies of themselves. "Al Pacino looks like a mad old freak now. I say give it a rest, or go and do some serious stuff." But the My Best Friend’s Wedding star reserves his harshest criticism for American actor George Clooney. He adds, "Clooney thinks that, provided he does films which are politically committed, he’s allowed to do Ocean’s 11, 12 and 13. But the Ocean’s movies are a cancer to world culture. They’re destroying us. "He’s not the brightest spark on the boulevard. He’ll be president one day.
Mark my words, if he’s straight, he’ll be president."

SNIPES: ‘I’M A VICTIM OF RACISM’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:57 pm

Actor WESLEY SNIPES has slammed the media for portraying him as a "bad guy" after he was charged with tax fraud, claiming he is a victim of racism.
Snipes, 45, is due to stand trial next month (Jan08) in Florida on charges he fraudulently claimed tax refunds of almost $12 million (£6 million) in 1996 and 1997. He is also accused of failing to file tax returns from 1999 to 2004.
But the star has blamed the press and its racial prejudice for overexaggerating the scandal, and depicting him as a villain.
He says, "It was easy for people to jump on the ‘Wesley’s the bad guy’ bandwagon. That’s where I think the systematic racism comes in. We’re conditioned in this country to believe that if there’s a problem, the black man is the culprit." Snipes also blames discrimination for the box office failure of his 2004 movie Blade:Trinity.
He adds, "There are so few guys who do action and do it well. Even fewer who are African-American. Even fewer who have classical-theater training.
"So a cat like me coming in, I’m bringing all of that to an action movie.
Since there are so few people that do this and have that pedigree, people disregard their contribution."

PROCLAIMERS’ DESPERATE FOR STEWART COVER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:54 pm

Scottish rockers THE PROCLAIMERS are desperate for one of their songs to be covered by fellow countryman ROD STEWART.
The duo - famed for their 1989 hit song (I’m Gonna Be) 500 Miles - have had their material covered countless artists in the past, but insist Stewart is one of few artists who could do their tracks justice.
Band member Craig Reid says, "We’ve been covered by lots of bands and singers but we always hoped Rod Steward would do it. He’s someone who has done well and is a popular man. We’d love him to sing one of our old acoustic songs, Misty Blue, rather than one of the bigger hits, but it’s not really very likely to happen. It would be great if it did." And the twin brothers admit there is another musician they would love to hear record their hits.
Charlie adds, "It’d be great to see Jennifer Lopez sing one of our songs too."

TURNER WIDOW BEGS TINA FOR FORGIVENESS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:54 pm

The widow of late star IKE TURNER has begged his first wife TINA to forgive him - because he "helped" her during their marriage.
Rocker Ike died at his San Marcos, California home, on Wednesday (12Dec07), aged 76, but Tina refused to pay tribute to the star.
The What’s Love Got to Do with It? singer was married to Turner for 18 years, but the union was largely an unhappy one as a result of the Proud Mary hitmaker’s cocaine addiction and physical abuse.
The couple divorced in 1976, with Tina’s representative insisting earlier this week (ends14Dec07) the singer had no contact with Ike for 35 years.
But Ike’s widow Jeanette Turner hopes Tina can now forgive her former partner, who she brands "a good human being".
She says, "I know that she was hurt. But there’s something called forgiveness and I know Ike really forgave himself, which is really hard to do.
"I’m not defending what he did. I’m not saying he didn’t do what he did when he was with Tina or me. But he was a human being. And being all of that, he’s still a child-like person- pure and a good person always willing to help people. He was a human being and he helped Tina… he helped a lot of people."

BALDWIN OFFERS MANHATTAN APARTMENT AS ALTERNATIVE GLOBES VENUE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:18 am

Actor ALEC BALDWIN has offered to stage the Golden Globe Awards in his living room if the Hollywood writers’ strike is not resolved by the middle of January (08).
Many nominees have vowed not to cross picket lines if striking writers choose to protest at the event, and the show’s organisers from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association are desperately trying to reach an agreement with those behind the walk-out.
But Baldwin has come up with a plan to stage the awards show at his Manhattan home - just in case a deal isn’t done and the strike lingers on into the New Year.
In a posting on blog site The Huffington Post, Baldwin writes, "I have cleared all of this with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
"They make only one simple request and that is that you pre-order your meal selection NO LATER than Friday, January 4th, 2008." The actor offers tuna Salad, whitefish salad or egg salad as a food option and a "liter of red or white wine or 6 (six) cold bottles of Amstel (promotional) complimentary." He also jokes that New York street personality Radioman will host the red carpet show held in the parking lot of (restaurant) Tavern on the Green "before we are all shuttled to my apartment building." Baldwin, who is nominated for a Best Actor prize for his role in TV comedy 30 Rock, concludes his comic posting by stating, "Looking forward to seeing you all on January 13th at my place."

CROWE’S BIKER FILM TOO RAW FOR RELEASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:15 am

RUSSELL CROWE once directed a biker film, but it turned out too emotional for him to release it.
The actor and a few pals took off on an 18-day expedition shortly after he completed work on Gladiator - and he started filming the whole adventure.
Crowe thought a film about tough guys opening up about true feelings would be a winner, but he had no idea how emotional he and his friends would become.
He says, "We rode all through Australia, me and about nine friends… It was amazing how much more people opened up the closer we got to the desert.
"They would reveal things about their families, their lives. It flows against the popular notion that men don’t talk to each other when they’re alone." But what was to be Crowe’s directorial debut has never been released.
He adds, "It was made as a home movie and it should remain a home movie." Instead, Crowe will make his major movie directorial debut on new surfing biopic Bra Boys.
