STATHAM URGED NOT TO LEARN TO ACT
JASON STATHAM became a Hollywood star despite never undergoing formal acting training, because GUY RITCHIE told him he didn’t need any.
Statham was plucked from obscurity to star in 1998 London gangster film Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels after Ritchie spotted him working on a market stall.
The experience inspired him to become a full-time actor and he sought out the advice of his mentor.
Statham says, "After Lock Stock, I told Guy I was so grateful for the experience, and I want to do another film. Should I go to drama school, and try and learn a few more tricks of the trade? "He said, ‘F**k it. There’s a fine line between intuition and technique, and at the moment, your intuition will be more interesting than your technique. So if you’re asking me, don’t do.’"
