LATEST: R&B star RIHANNA proved she’s on the mend after announcing rescheduled dates for two of U.K. gigs she cancelled due to a mystery illness.
The Umbrella singer pulled out of concerts in Nottingham, Birmingham and Bournemouth under doctor’s orders, mid-way through her European tour earlier this month (Dec07).
And although her representatives did not reveal details of her illness, fans were fearing the worst.
Now the star has allayed concerns by announcing she will play the Birmingham NEC show on 18 December (07) and the Nottingham gig on 20 December (07). No new date for the Bournemouth show has yet been confirmed.
Rihanna - who was discovered by rap sensation Jay-Z - began the tour in Paris last month (Nov07) and was due to end it on 21 December (07) in Moscow, Russia.

Single singer DANNII MINOGUE is plotting to break up ANGELINA JOLIE and BRAD PITT - so she can pave the way for romance with the FIGHT CLUB hunk.
Minogue - currently a judge on British TV talent show The X Factor - is on the hunt for a boyfriend, and names Pitt as her ideal man.
And she’s refusing to let his high-profile romance with Jolie impede her pursuit of happiness.
She says, "I want to break up Angelina and Brad - he’s still the pin-up boy for me. He looks so good.

VICTORIA BECKHAM was so desperate to add some curves to her figure, she asked ROBERTO CAVALLI to design outfits for the SPICE GIRLS tour that would "give her hips".
Beckham is known for her slender figure but made a special request for Cavalli to design something to boost the shape of her bottom half.
He says, "I asked them about their bodies, what they wanted to show and hide.
(Victoria) was the most daring. She wanted to experiment, to surprise and be different."

Pop star LILY ALLEN has angered her record label bosses by agreeing to front her own TV show.
The singer, 22, is to present a new BBC chatshow based on the social networking site MySpace.
But she fears a backlash from folk at her record label Parlophone, who believe the dual career will end in disaster.
She says, "I don’t think the record company are very happy about it. They think it’ll confuse people about me as an artist."

Hollywood actor WILL SMITH is disappointed presidential candidate BARACK OBAMA may beat him to the White House - as he always wanted to be the first black president.
The 39-year-old star is backing the Democrat senator to win the 2008 U.S.
elections but admits he should have launched his political career sooner.

WILL SMITH braved the chilly New York weather by donating his coat to charity on live TV.
The actor, in Manhattan to promote his new movie I Am Legend, tossed his coat in a charity bin on morning show Good Morning America.
After host Robin Roberts asked if it was really his coat, Smith replied, "That was my coat. Absolutely. I just love that idea. Love that concept." Smith follows in the footsteps of fellow Hollywood star Ben Affleck, who gave away three coats on the show last week (6Dec07).
The Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Drive will last until 31 January 2008, when they will be handed out to needy people.

Pop star KATIE MELUA has set her sights on going to university in New York, in the hopes of making a "David Bowie"-style artistic transformation.
The 23-year-old singer came to fame in 2003 with her album Call Off The Search, just as she would have been going to university, and so feels she has missed out on the experience.
She says, "I might move to New York - I’ve had the thought for a couple of years - to immerse myself in a different culture and come up with a different sound. I like the way artists like David Bowie made totally different music by moving to a city like Berlin. "I missed out on the ‘uni’ experience. If I go to New York I’ll definitely enrol at university and take a course in English literature or history. Nothing connected to music.
"I’ve looked into applying for an evening class at New York University, but it wouldn’t happen any earlier than autumn of next year."

JOHNNY DEPP has accused Hollywood cinema of lacking any art, praising European filmmakers for their superior creativity.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star, who has acted in over 35 Hollywood movies, as well as directing, producing and screenwriting various films, has lost respect for the American movie business.
He says, "I’m not sure that art in cinema is possible any more, in Hollywood anyway, but in Europe there’s a real regard for the filmmaker and the writer.
And the product too, the end result. They respect authors, painters, filmmakers, film and creativity. They celebrate it. And the wine is pretty good."

HARRY POTTER creator J.K. ROWLING has premiered her first collection of stories since her best-selling boy wizard series.
The world famous author has hand-written and illustrated just seven copies of the Tales Of Beedle The Bard - first mentioned in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - and gave a reading from them in London on Monday night (10Dec07).
One will be sold to raise money for her Children’s Voice charity at an auction at Sotheby’s in London later this week (beg10Dec07), and the others will be given as gifts.
A dedication written in the front of the book explains: "Six of these books have been given to those most closely connected to the Harry Potter books during the last 17 years.
"This seventh copy will be auctioned; the proceeds to help institutionalised children who are in desperate need of a voice. So to whoever now owns this book, thank you - and fair fortune be yours!"

ANG LEE slipped into the role of directing erotic scenes for LUST, CAUTION with ease - thanks to the experimental willingness of actress TANG WEI.
The Oscar-winning moviemaker had never tested his talents in the field of eroticism before signing up to direct the steamy World War II drama, and it took two weeks to get the sexual positions right.
But far from being intimidated by the relentless intimacy, uninhibited newcomer Wei enthusiastically launched herself into the off and on-screen sessions - unlike her co-star Tony Leung Chiu Wai.
Lee says, "We spent two weeks on the sex scenes. Tony was a bit nervous. You just have to give him a push, twist his arm a little.
"Tang Wei just gave herself to the part. When we first met, I warned her, ‘I don’t know how far I’m going to go with the Lust part.’ She said, ‘Don’t worry about me. I’m in your hands.’ "I had a few positions I’d thought about for the actors, but mostly we were experimenting. I’d go through each position with them: ‘Here, you’re yearning for this; here, you’re understanding that.’ We’d usually try two or three positions a day, and each one would require three or four shots, and that would be it."

LAW & ORDER star RICHARD BELZER is calling on the cop show’s makers to explain why they are cutting him from the series.
Belzer’s character Sergeant John Munch has slowly disappeared from the show’s plotlines, causing fans of the grizzled cop to protest online.
And the 63-year-old actor is joining them, telling PageSix.com, "It’s mystifying to me. And I have to admit my feelings are slightly hurt.
"But I do feel flattered my fans miss me."

Filmmaker FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA has accused Hollywood studios of recycling movie ideas because they are only interested in making money.
The Godfather director claims studios won’t take risks on creative new ideas, because it’s easier to stick to formulas that guarantee box office takings.
He tells the New York Post, "There’s no question that regular big-studio films have become familiar. You go and you say, ‘Haven’t we seen this movie?’ "And the answer is yes, because that’s the business model. The word "risk" isn’t in their vocabulary.
"Fortunately, we have independent films that are interesting and made by people who sacrificed for it.

Comedy actor PAUL REUBEN is reprising his most famous character to make two new PEE-WEE HERMAN movies.
Just months after vowing never to play the kids’ favourite again, Reubens is working on two new scripts - the first due for release in 2009, 19 years after he retired the beloved character.
He explains his change of heart to MTV, "I feel like the time is really ripe right now. A lot of the kids who grew up with the show are young adults. The college kids are middle-aged adults. I feel like I have enough of a built-in audience to make back an investment."

LATEST: ANAND JON’s sister has hit back at the 59 sexual assault charges the fashion designer has been indicted on - claiming the women are liars.
The stylist to the stars is currently being held in Los Angeles county jail, awaiting trial on charges ranging from rape, sexual battery, committing lewd acts with a minor, forcible sodomy and witness intimidation.
Sanjana Jon claims many of the women continued to work with her brother, after they alleged he attacked them.
She says, "We are just confused
. Why would you keep following the person around if you are being violated by him?" But attorney Gloria Allred, who is representing one of the accusers insists: "That’s an old script and I’m sure in the case of many women it’s not justified."

THE OSBOURNES star OZZY OSBOURNE once mistakenly sent a group of Japanese tourists up to his daughter KELLY’s bedroom - assuming they were her friends.
The rocker, whose home life was aired to the world for three years receiving the highest ratings in MTV history, was initially bewildered by the show’s success and naively believed fans waiting outside the house were friends of his kids.
He says, "It was like the planet had changed. All of a sudden there’s like 500 people outside your front gate, climbing over the wall, and sometimes taking things away with them. "Some Japanese people knocked on the door. I just said, ‘Upstairs, second door on the left.’ They were tourists and I thought they were friends of Kelly’s!"

The 43-year-old singer lost custody of her daughter Frances Bean, now 15, for two years because of her regular drug use. She finally kicked her addictions in 2006.
The former Hole frontwoman maintains she doesn’t deserve her hellraiser reputation, claiming her antics wouldn’t be quite so extraordinary were she a man.
She says, "There is a disconnect between who I am and how I am perceived. I used to play up to it a bit when I was on drugs because who cares: sex, drugs, rock’n'roll, waaaaah! I always seem to come number two to Keith Richards in lists of greatest hell-raisers of all time. But if I was a guy, I wouldn’t even be on the list! I didn’t know it was such a guy’s job. It’s like playing football in high heels and lipstick, no wonder it smears."

New York’s Philharmonic Orchestra has signed to perform a concert in Communist North Korea - marking a breakthrough in relations between the U.S. and a nation President George W. Bush branded part of the "axis of evil".
The performance will take place on 26 February in the capital Pyongyang following successful talks in October to promote exchanges between the two countries.
Few outsiders have been allowed inside North Korea, under Kim Jong Il’s regime - which has been accused of torturing and starving its people.
