Hip-hop sensation SOULJA BOY has been sued by a man claiming he first created and used the stage name ‘SOULJAH BOY’. Relatively unknown rapper Willie Lyons has begun legal proceedings against the Crank That star - real name DeAndre Way - for trademark infringement of his alias.
U.S. gossip blogger Perez Hilton has published a letter from a legal representative for Lyons, which reads, "I am writing on behalf of the law firm of Alexander, Odunze & Kang LLP to give you a heads up re: the attached complaint, which was filed in federal court this afternoon on behalf of Willie Lyons (professionally known as) Souljah Boy. "By way of background (and as you may already know), Mr. Lyons, known in commerce as Souljah Boy for over twelve years, is suing artist Soulja Boy (birth name: DeAndre Way), his record label, attorney & manager in connection with his blatant infringement of Mr. Lyons’ trademark." Soulja Boy has yet to respond to the claims.

Pop singer NICK LACHEY and TV presenter/actress VANESSA MINNILLO are getting married this weekend (08Dec07) in the Bahamas, according to U.S. reports.
The pair - who have been dating since April 2006 - is said to be exchanging vows in a secret ceremony at one of the Carlyle Hotels on the tropical island.
Minnillo’s entourage arrived at the luxury residence on Friday (07Dec07) afternoon, according to Fox News.
Lachey, 34, who moved in to Minnillo’s New York apartment in April (07), was previously married to Jessica Simpson, and starred with her in the hit MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica.
Representatives for the couple could not be reached at the time WENN went to press. Earlier this year (Mar07), Simpson said she was stung when Lachey jumped back into dating after their high-profile breakup.
Simpson filed for divorce in December 2005 after three years of marriage, and is now reportedly dating Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo.

A U.S. judge has dismissed a musician’s claim KID ROCK copied a hit track from him.
Troy Landry alleged the rap/rocker’s song Somebody’s Gotta Feel This was a rip-off of tunes he released on a 1994 album.
But U.S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon has ruled in favour of Kid Rock, stating, "The works are not so strikingly or substantially similar as to preclude independent creation. A layman would not view the works as substantially similar."

ANGELINA JOLIE would have never adopted her Ethiopian daughter ZAHARA if she’d known her mother was alive, according to the actress’ brother.
James Haven insists his superstar sister was unaware Zahara’s birth mother Mentewab Dawit Lebiso was still alive when she adopted the child in 2005 because paperwork stated the girl was an orphan.
And Jolie would have adopted another child if she had been made aware Lebiso wasn’t dead, her brother says.
Haven tells British magazine Grazia, "Angelina has a rule that she adopts children only when they are orphans.
"I think adoption becomes complicated whenever the biological parents are alive." Lebiso recently dismissed reports she wanted her child back, insisting she is glad Zahara is growing up in the care of Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt.
Lebiso said, "I have never disputed the adoption… I have no ill feelings towards her (Jolie). I think my daughter is a very fortunate human being to be adopted by a world-famous lady. I wish them all the success they both deserve."

Reality TV star KELLY OSBOURNE is dating TRASH FASHION rocker BAM BAM.
The 23-year-old daughter of Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy and music mogul Sharon only recently started romancing the British musician.
An insider tells American magazine In Touch, "Kelly and Bam Bam have only been dating for a week, but they are really into each other and she’s smitten.

LATEST: MADONNA has dismissed reports her final Warner Bros studio album will be called LICORICE.
The pop superstar’s broadcaster friend Larry Lick played two new tracks, Candy Shop and The Beat Goes On, from her upcoming disc on his Sirius Satellite Radio show OutQ on Thursday (06Dec07).
Lick then went on to claim the new disc is called Licorice and will be released in spring 2008.
But in an email to Reuters, Madonna’s publicist Liz Rosenberg writes: "Sirius does not know what they are talking about. Wrong title. Release date wrong etc." Madonna will part company with Warner Bros once the album is released and embark on a new initiative with concert promoter Live Nation.
The 10-year deal encompasses all of Madonna’s future music and music-related businesses.

LATEST: Actress KATHERINE HEIGL has defended labelling her smash hit movie KNOCKED UP "sexist", insisting the comedy was the "best filming experience of my career".
The film, in which Heigl plays a TV journalist who becomes pregnant after a one-night stand with Seth Rogen’s unemployed slob, was a massive hit earlier this year (07) and helped Heigl’s earnings jump from $300,000 (£150,000) to $6 million (£3 million) per picture.
But in a recent interview with Vanity Fair magazine, Heigl said, "It’s a little sexist. It paints the women as shrews, as humourless and uptight and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. It was hard for me to love the movie." And Heigl has now come forward to clarify the context in which she was quoted.
She tells website People.com, "It’s important to me to take a minute and clarify the quote about Knocked Up in Vanity Fair.
"I was responding to previous reviews about the movie the interviewer brought to my attention. My motive was to encourage other women like myself to not take that element of the movie too seriously and to remember that it’s a broad comedy.
"Although I stand behind my opinion, I’m disheartened that it has become the focus of my experience with the movie.
"The truth is, it was the best filming experience of my career. Every person that was a part of making Knocked Up helped to encourage, support and inspire me. I never intended for anyone to think otherwise."

LATEST: Actress VIVICA A. FOX has been sentenced to three years’ probation and fined $400 (£200) after pleading guilty to drink-driving on Friday (07Dec07).
Judge Stephen Pfaler also ordered Fox to enter a 90-day alcohol education program during a hearing in a Van Nuys, California court.
The Kill Bill star was not in court and entered her plea of no contest through her lawyer.
Fox was arrested in March (07) after police stopped her for travelling at around 80 miles (128 kilometres) per hour in a 65 mile (105 kilometre) per hour zone on a Los Angeles freeway. She was then charged with driving under the influence.

A judge has issued a warrant for DANIEL BALDWIN’s arrest after the actor failed to appear at a court hearing on Friday (07Dec07).
The 47-year-old was due to be at Los Angeles County Superior Court at 10am to discuss his probation progress after he was found guilty of having a cocaine ingesting device on his person and of being under the influence last year (06).
When Baldwin failed to show up, Judge Scott Millington issued a no bail bench warrant for his arrest and revoked the actor’s probation.
Baldwin’s probation officer also submitted a report claiming the star has missed several drug-rehabilitation meetings, reports website TMZ.com.

Rapper EVE hopes the tragic death of KANYE WEST’s mother just a day after she had cosmetic surgery will discourage others from going under the knife.
Donda West passed away last month (Nov07) from possible complications following plastic surgery, and Kanye’s friend Eve wants the sad event to serve as a reminder of the potential dangers such procedures present.
She says, "We live in a society of quick fixes. The cost is your life.
Hopefully, this will make people think more." When she heard the news of Donda’s death, Eve immediately sent her condolences via email to Kanye, but she wants to pass on her sympathies in person.
She adds, "I sent him an email, but I’m sure he got a million and one emails.
I want to give him my hugs and blessings."

Singer FERGIE has slammed an American magazine for suggesting she has undergone cosmetic surgery on her nose and eyebrows.
Two pictures of The Black Eyes Peas star - one from the 1980s, and one from 2007 - are printed side-by-side in the current issue of Us Weekly, and a surgeon tells the publication it’s likely Fergie has had a rhinoplasty procedure.
But the 32-year-old has denied the claims, and admits such speculation upsets her so much she has seen a therapist.
Fergie says, "One of those (celebrity) magazines says I’ve had a nose job and an eyebrow lift, which is completely untrue.
"Personally, I see a therapist. It’s hard, it hurts my feelings. I call my hypnotherapist and cry and let it go. That’s what I do (to cope).
"I think that they nitpick these days so much and it’s just got to the point where it’s ridiculous." And Fergie isn’t the only celebrity angry with this week’s issue of Us Weekly - actress Scarlett Johansson is threatening the magazine with legal action over claims she had undergone plastic surgery on her nose.

FALL OUT BOY rocker PETE WENTZ has hit out at music bosses for failing to nominate his band for any Grammy Awards.
The bassist was so upset when he found out Fall Out Boy weren’t among the 50th Grammy Award nominees, which were announced on Thursday (06Dec07), he immediately took out his anger online.
Writing on the band’s website, Wentz said: "The first reaction is jealousy mixed with a slight sense of entitlement. We just want to be a part of your club…
"A fifty-year-old white man shouldn’t decide whether we are relevant or not and he doesn’t."

Rapper BOW WOW was rushed to hospital on Thursday (06Dec07) night after a concert in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The 20-year-old star was suffering from "a combination of exhaustion and stress", but is expected to make a full recovery.
Bow Wow, who is on tour with Chris Brown and Sean Kingston, was forced to cancel his concert appearance in Chicago, Illinois on Friday (07Dec07). Brown and Kingston went ahead with their performances.
A representative for Bow Wow’s record label Sony has promised disappointed fans the rapper "will be sure to come back to Chicago soon".

The former head of security at Death Row Records has again denied allegations he was involved in the murder of rapper TUPAC SHAKUR.
Reggie Wright Jr. disputes claims made by the hip-hop superstar’s former bodyguard Kevin Hackie he conspired with Death Row boss Marion ‘Suge’ Knight to arrange Shakur’s murder.
Former police officer Hackie recently offered Wright $100,000 (£50,000) to take a lie detector test to prove he had no involvement in Shakur’s death.
And Wright, who has been cleared by the F.B.I. of any involvement in the 1996 Las Vegas shooting that killed Shakur, has accepted Hackie’s challenge.
He tells website AllHipHop.com, "The day Kevin Hackie puts up the money to pay for a reputable board-licensed polygrapher to conduct a lie detector test for him and I, people will find out who the liar is.
"I had nothing to do with Pac’s death."

PHIL SPECTOR has found a new lawyer to defend him at his retrial for the murder of actress LANA CLARKSON - but the attorney says he may not be ready to go to court until September 2008.
Doron Weinberg told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler on Friday (07Dec07) that he needs five months just to review the material from Spector’s original trial, which was ruled a mistrial in September (07) when jurors couldn’t agree unanimously on a guilty verdict.
San Francisco, California-based Weinberg also told the hearing that the only member of the Spector’s legal team left after the music producer dismissed his defence is Christopher Ploud - who won’t be available until autumn 2008 as he’s currently involved in two death penalty cases.
Spector still stands accused of murdering Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion in 2003.
During the trial, Spector’s legal team maintained Clarkson was depressed and suicidal and shot herself.
The producer used three legal teams during the five-month trial. He fired his first attorney and New York lawyer Bruce Cutler quit as lead counsel after disagreeing with his client.

Country legend JOHNNY CASH’s daughter ROSANNE is recovering at home after undergoing brain surgery last week (ends30Nov07).
The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, who has not revealed exactly what illness she was suffering from, had the operation at the New York Presbyterian Hospital on 27 November (07).
A posting on the 52-year-old’s website reads: "Rosanne is back home recovering comfortably from her surgery.
"She extends thanks and appreciation for all the love, good wishes, prayers and kindness." The critically-acclaimed singer is the daughter of Johnny Cash and his first wife Vivian, and the eldest of the late icon’s five children.
