MADONNA DISLIKED MADGE NICKNAME AT FIRST
MADONNA hated her ‘Madge’ nickname - until her husband GUY RITCHIE revealed it’s British shorthand for ‘Your Majesty’.
The American superstar moved to London to be with her film director spouse Ritchie in the late 1990s, and was annoyed when the local tabloid press began calling her Madge.
Ritchie says, "Then someone told her it was an abbreviation of Your Majesty.
Ever since, she’s settled in quite nicely, that Madge."
