PENN & KRAKAUER PAY COCKTAIL TRIBUTE TO DEAD WANDERER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:51 am

SEAN PENN and author JON KRAKAUER celebrated the life of real-life hero CHRIS McCANDLESS by sipping the tragic adventurer’s favourite drink during a visit to the abandoned school bus he called home.
Penn turned McCandless’ story into an acclaimed film, based on Krakauer’s bestselling book Into The Wild, and the two friends recently reunited in Denali National Park, Alaska - the site of the young wanderer’s death.
The emotional tribute outside the bus McCandless used as his shelter for several months while living "off the map" was captured on camera for TV documentary Iconoclasts.
Penn and Krakauer bought vodka, Kahlua and half & half mixer from a Fairbanks, Alaska convenience store, so they could make white Russian cocktails upon arriving at McCandless’ bus.
The movie star/director then proposed a toast to McCandless, calling him "one who will be admired… will be loved, will be remembered…" before pouring a little of the drink on the ground in honour of the adventurer.
McCandless hiked into the wilds of Alaska in 1992 and is believed to have died after eating poisonous berries. Actor Emile Hirsch portrays the tragic wildman in Penn’s new film.
