OSBOURNE SHOCKS CROWD WITH DIAMOND GIVEAWAY
Rock matriarch SHARON OSBOURNE shocked the audience at a charity fundraiser on Saturday (01Dec07) - by hurling a $60,000 (£30,000) diamond ring into the crowd.
The generous 55-year-old was hosting a fundraiser for the Elton John Aid’s Foundation as part of the 20th anniversary of World Aids Day at London’s G-A-Y club when her spontaneous jewellery-throwing occurred.
Osbourne had already launched her red Aids awareness ribbon into the crowd, before pulling the ring off her finger and yelling, "Here, have the diamond as well." Osbourne’s spokesperson Gary Farrow, says, "The ring was worth £30,000. It was a spontaneous gesture. Sharon was in a great mood, there was a great crowd and it was a poignant event.
"Christmas has come early for whoever caught it." Girls Aloud, Sugababes and Westlife also performed at the charity bash.
It was a weekend of giving for Osbourne - a two-day auction on Friday (30Nov07) and Saturday (01Dec07) held by her family raised $800,000 (£400,000) for The Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program.
