Town’s Hooker hell
Residents of a US town have visited their city council to request they change the name of the local ‘Hooker Street’.
The street, in Whitewood, San Diego, has caused offence to some of the town’s 800 residents, and the council are expected to discuss a name change at their next meeting. If the street - which was actually named after a Civil War general - is to be renamed, it will only affect one resident and six water bill accounts, according to the council’s finance officer, Brenda Lindstrom.
