Robot help
Japanese scientists have invented a robot to get you out of bed and serve you breakfast.
Inventors at Tokyo’s Waseda University created Twendy-One to help elderly people around the house.
The 4ft 10ins robot - which took seven years to build - boasts soft hands and fingers that can gently grip a person and the strength to help them sit up and stand.
Twendy-One - which has the ability to speak - can also pick out various food items, place them on a plate and serve them to its owner.
Shigeki Sugano, professor of mechanical engineering at Waseda University, said: "In our super-ageing society, both strength and delicacy are required for robots. Twendy-One is the first robot that can meet those conditions." The professor hopes to have the robot on sale by 2015.
