BARKIN SUED BY BILLIONAIRE EX

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:45 pm

Actress ELLEN BARKIN is facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit from her tycoon ex-husband RON PERELMAN - who claims she stole money from a production company he financed.
The Revlon cosmetics boss’ suit names Barkin and her brother George as co-defendants.
Perelman alleges the Barkins formed Applehead II to compete with Applehead I - which he had formed with them - and then stole money from the original company to pay for their new one.
He also claims she used his money to pay for a lawsuit she filed against him, and pay George Barkin a $250,000 (£125,000)-a-year salary.
He is seeking unspecified compensatory damages, punitive damages and the return of misappropriated assets.
Perelman and Barkin, 54, divorced in 2006.

He tells TMZ.com, "I have no idea what that’s about. I’ve never met her my whole life."

  • LOHAN’S ‘VICTIM’ HAS BAR BILL AS EVIDENCE OF INTOXICATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:42 pm

LATEST: The victim of LINDSAY LOHAN’s 2005 Hollywood car crash has retrieved the actress’ bar bill to prove she was under the influence when the accident occurred.
Lohan is being sued by Raymundo Ortega for crashing her Mercedes-Benz into his red van in Los Angeles, after allegedly drinking at celebrity hotspot The Ivy.
The Mean Girls star has refuted claims she had consumed alcohol during her lunch date with pals and says the police report of the incident will prove her innocence against Ortega’s allegations.
But Ortega has now gotten hold of the actress’ restaurant bill, which shows the party of five ordered four Ivy Gimlets - a strong vodka and mint cocktail, reports TMZ.com.
And he hopes the new evidence will be enough for a judge to rule in his favour over the negligence lawsuit - although there is no way of knowing if Lohan, then 19, drank the cocktail.
Lohan - who was recently ordered to give a videotaped deposition in relation to the lawsuit - has filed a countersuit to fight the claims, and is seeking damages of $75,000 (£37,500) from Ortega.
A trial date of 7 April (08) has been set for both cases.

Actress JULIA ROBERTS lost her temper with a paparazzo recently when she ordered him to stop attempting to take pictures of her young children.
The mother-of-three was driving her two-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus in Los Angeles on Wednesday (28Nov07), when she decided to confront an overzealous snapper, reports TMZ.com.
Taking advice from her Ocean’s Eleven co-star George Clooney, Roberts honked the horn of her Mercedes-Benz sports utility vehicle (SUV) and forced the photographer to pull over before storming over to scold the shocked paparazzo.
An enraged Roberts told the cameraman, "Listen, you can turn your videocamera off. You’re at a school where children go. Turn it off." Earlier this month (19Nov07), a videotape of Clooney angrily confronting two photographers for driving dangerously surfaced online.

  • McLACHLAN TO LAUNCH HIS OWN WINE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star KYLE McLACHLAN is launching his own wine.
The actor has teamed up with a vineyard in Washington state to create a Cabernet called Pursued By Bear.
McLachlan told American TV host Regis on Thursday’s (29Nov07) Live with Regis & Kelly, "I went in with a friend who’s a real winemaker. We made a wine together and it’s going to be released in September. It’s grown up in Washington state. They are producing some fantastic wine up there, so I made a Cabernet with Tim Dunham of Dunham cellars.
"It’s called Pursued By Bear. I challenge you to forget that name. It’s actually a Shakespearean stage direction from Winter’s Tale. Actors are actually chased off stage by a bear. It’s catchy."

  • BRITONS PROTEST IN SUPPORT OF STRIKING HOLLYWOOD WRITERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

British screenwriter MARK BURTON and playwright DAVID EDGAR were among the protestors showing their support for Hollywood’s striking writers by holding their own rally in London.
The Writers Guild of America union members have been on strike since 5 November (07) after a dispute over royalties for material distributed over the Internet.
And their U.K. counterparts have come out in force to help raise awareness of the WGA’s plight, by setting up a picket line outside the Trades Union Congress building in London on Wednesday (28Nov07), holding red and black placards which read: "We support the Writers Guild of America".
Burton, who has worked on animated comedies Madagascar and Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, says, "(The issue at stake was) how you pay creative artists in the digital world.
"Producers see an opportunity to seize more territory for themselves." And Edgar, president of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, compared writers’ relationship to their work to "the widget-maker’s relationship to the widget once it is made - that is, none at all." Similar protests were also held in Paris, France; Berlin, Germany, and four Australian cities.

  • TRUMP’S SCOTTISH GOLF RESORT PLANS REJECTED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

U.S. property tycoon DONALD TRUMP’s bid to build a $1 billion (£500 million) golf resort in Scotland has been thrown out by protective locals.
Trump had hoped to build an eight storey five-star hotel, two championship golf courses and 950 timeshare holiday apartments beside Aberdeenshire.
But the Apprentice star heard on Thursday (29Nov07) that his plans had been blocked by Aberdeenshire Council after they ruled against the expansive planning application.
And Trump will be particularly annoyed to find there was just one single vote swaying the judgement.
Trump’s aide, George Sorial, said the business mogul had not yet decided whether to appeal against the decision: "Obviously we are very disappointed. We do have options elsewhere in the U.K. and we will sit down now and look at that… We haven’t made a formal decision yet." The ambitious project had been riddled with problems from the offset. Last month (Oct07) Trump battled local salmon fisherman Michael Forbes, who was refusing to sell his rustic house in the middle of the proposed golf course.

  • JONAS BROTHERS RECORD ALBUM ON BUS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Teen pop sensations THE JONAS BROTHERS are recording their next album on the move - on their MILEY CYRUS tourbus.
The sibling trio are currently supporting the Hannah Montana star on her marathon 54-date arena tour in the U.S.
And with little time to spare to lay down tracks for their upcoming album, The Jonas Brothers have transformed their bus into a state-of-the-art recording studio.
Guitarist Kevin Jonas says, "We approached Gibson (Guitar) saying ‘What can you do to help us?’ Our goal is to never stop and get it while it’s hot. We could have a finished record within the next month." But the 19-year-old admits the mobile studio is not without its drawbacks.
He adds, "It’s weird, because I’m used to my gear. I’m used to a full-on studio with (music software system) ProTools - no limitations. This has limitations."

  • MORRISSEY: ‘I’M TOO CONVENTIONAL TO DO A RADIOHEAD’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

British singer MORRISSEY is too "institutionalised" to release his next album as an Internet-only download like RADIOHEAD.
The former Smiths frontman, 48, has just signed a deal with record label Polydor/Decca, with a view to release his ninth solo album next year (Sep08).
And although the Hand In Glove hitmaker is impressed by rockers Radiohead’s move to release In Rainbows as a digital download - allowing customers to choose their own price - he deems it an idealistic step that doesn’t appeal to him.
He says, "If they (Radiohead) think that can work that that’s a wonderful world. And yes, you can look at record companies and you can easily assess that they’ve been ripping people off for years and years and years. The whole process is a gigantic rip off. But then there are people like me who need to be institutionalised… and I don’t mean in an asylum! "Believing that several thousand people are working to get your music heard is more inspiring to me than anything else." Morrissey’s last album, The Ringleader of the Tormentors, reached number one in the U.K. in 2006. It was released on Sanctuary Records but that deal ended earlier this year (07).
