No parking
An Italian parking chief has been sacked after parking in a no parking zone and fraudulently using an elderly woman’s disabled permit.
Giovanni Catanzaro lost his position as head of Rome’s police force that oversaw traffic and parking violations after a newspaper reported he left his Alfa Romeo in a tow-away zone before going for dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Catanzaro also put a permit for disabled drivers on display in the windshield of his car knowing that Rome officials rarely tow away a handicapped person’s vehicle.
The permit was actually issued to an 86-year-old woman and was no longer valid.
After reading the story, Rome’s Mayor Walter Veltroni felt he had no choice but to sack the parking chief and terminated his contract.
