MY BLOODY VALENTINE TO RELEASE COMEBACK ALBUM AS DOWNLOAD
Cult rockers MY BLOODY VALENTINE are to follow in the footsteps of RADIOHEAD by releasing their first album since 1991 as an Internet download.
Radiohead amazed the music industry last month (Oct07) by releasing In Rainbows as a digital download and allowing customers to choose their own price.
And now My Bloody Valentine, who have been inactive since 1995 and haven’t recorded a studio album since 1991’s Loveless, plan to market their highly-anticipated new disc online too.
The band’s manager Vinita Joshi tells Billboard.com, "At the moment, all I can say is that Kevin (Shields, frontman) is getting the band back together and they will go into the studio next month to work on the new record.
"The plan is that they will release the album themselves via the Internet, but there will also probably be a vinyl release." Joshi adds, however, that My Bloody Valentine have no plans to copy Radiohead’s pay-what-you-like policy.
