IT’S A CLOSE SHAVE FOR HEALY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:57 pm

TRAVIS frontman FRAN HEALY once found himself in a hairy situation - because the rocker grew a silly moustache and was encouraged by friends to keep it.
The Scottish rocker - who is currently touring North America with the band briefly sported a toothbrush moustache after his bandmates convinced him it was a good look.
He explains, "I grew a big beard and I was shaving it off in sections. I was just about to do the Hitler which is always the last one - and when you do the Hitler you’ve got to take the whole thing off. "And the guys said, ‘That’s quite good’ - so I just left it." The 34-year-old eventually decided he was best suited to a clean shave.

MY BLOODY VALENTINE TO RELEASE COMEBACK ALBUM AS DOWNLOAD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:57 pm

Cult rockers MY BLOODY VALENTINE are to follow in the footsteps of RADIOHEAD by releasing their first album since 1991 as an Internet download.
Radiohead amazed the music industry last month (Oct07) by releasing In Rainbows as a digital download and allowing customers to choose their own price.
And now My Bloody Valentine, who have been inactive since 1995 and haven’t recorded a studio album since 1991’s Loveless, plan to market their highly-anticipated new disc online too.
The band’s manager Vinita Joshi tells Billboard.com, "At the moment, all I can say is that Kevin (Shields, frontman) is getting the band back together and they will go into the studio next month to work on the new record.
"The plan is that they will release the album themselves via the Internet, but there will also probably be a vinyl release." Joshi adds, however, that My Bloody Valentine have no plans to copy Radiohead’s pay-what-you-like policy.

RODMAN ACCUSED OF HARASSING HOTEL EMPLOYEE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:48 pm

Former basketball star DENNIS RODMAN has been accused of sexually harassing a hotel employee in Las Vegas.
Sara Robinson, a former bar manager at the Hard Rock Hotel, has filed a lawsuit against the sportsman over a March 2006 incident, claiming he slapped her on the bottom and rubbed himself against her at the resort.
The lawsuit alleges, "As Robinson stepped around the bar, Rodman grabbed her, pulled her towards him and rubbed his body against hers.
"Robinson tried to get free from Rodman’s grasp at which time he assaulted her by reaching down and slapping her open-handed on the bottom." The complaint, which seeks unspecified damages, also claims Robinson was fired unfairly by the Hard Rock chain after filing a statement detailing Rodman’s actions following a separate incident at the same venue in April 2006, in which he is accused of ‘causing a scene’.
The document accuses Rodman of assault and battery, and the Hard Rock Hotel of negligence by failing to protect her from Rodman’s "harassing conduct".
It’s not the first assault allegation faced by the sports star - in September this year (07), Rodman faced a police investigation over claims he smacked a waitress’ bottom at a restaurant in Los Angeles.

BABYSHAMBLES GUITARIST QUITS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:48 pm

British rockers BABYSHAMBLES were forced to abandon plans to reunite their original line-up when guitarist PATRICK WALDEN quit their U.K tour on Thursday (22Nov07).
The Pete Doherty-fronted group was due to perform with Walden on seven scheduled dates, but the musician refused to appear with his former band just hours before he was due to go on stage at the gig in Manchester, England - the opening night of their tour.
But guitarist Mick Whitnall, who replaced Walden after he quit the band in 2005, insists there was ‘no animosity’ between the pair.
He tells NME.com, "He came up to Manchester on the tourbus with us, he was going to come out and play on a couple of songs, but there were complications and he had to go home. Personally, I just found it all a bit strange.
"It was a very amicable decision, he just didn’t want to do it in the end.
He’s got other projects on the go and I wish him well. There’s no animosity there, none at all." Walden last appeared with his former band at two gigs in July and August earlier this year (07). (JC/WNWCNM/) WENN - FIRST - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 25 NOVEMBER 2007

SPRINGFIELD USED A HELPING HAND

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:48 pm

British singer DUSTY SPRINGFIELD had an odd way of remembering the lyrics to her songs during gigs - she would scribble the words on her fingers with pen.
The late star - who succumbed to her battle with breast cancer in 1995 could often be seen peeking at her heavily decorated hands while performing onstage.
Vicki Wickham, Springfield’s long-time friend and manager, says, "We all laughed about the way she would write lyrics of her songs on her fingers. "You’d think that the time she spent writing those words, she would be able to remember them. But I suppose it was some kind of a security blanket just in case she forgot them."

NELSON FIGHTS DOG-FIGHTING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:45 pm

Animal-loving country legend WILLIE NELSON is lending his name to another good cause - the bid to make dog fighting illegal.
The singer has filmed a TV advertisement in support of an anti-dog fighting bill currently moving through the Georgia Legislature, just weeks after marching on Washington, D.C, to protest against the inhumane treatment of horses.
The anti-dog fighting commercial sees Nelson telling viewers, "Dog fighting is against the law in Georgia, but the laws are so weak, the beautiful state of Georgia has become a haven for dog fighters from around the country." The bill would make it a felony for anyone in the state to sell, trade or transport dogs for the purpose of dog fighting.
The bill is set to go before a House committee in January next year (08).
