TOWNSHEND TRAINED IN BALLET
THE WHO guitarist PETE TOWNSHEND wasn’t always a rock ‘n’ roll dynamo - he once trained as a ballet dancer.
The 62-year-old is known for his eccentric moves onstage, including his infamous "windmill" style of playing the guitar, but the rock legend once trained in a much more dainty discipline.
He says, "I did a short stint as a sort of Billy Elliot. My father wasn’t keen and the ballet mistress beat me."
