Actor OWEN WILSON feared never landing a movie role again after his performance in the 1996 movie BOTTLE ROCKET was panned by critics.
Wilson - who co-wrote the movie with director pal Wes Anderson - received the worst results of any Columbia Pictures test preview ever.
And although it initially widely judged to be a flop, it has since become a cult hit.
Anderson says, "Owen thought we were all washed up. He thought it was over. I remember him saying that we had to quickly look for work in advertising, which I really did not want to do. He also kept saying that we needed to distance ourselves from the movie.
"And I’m like, ‘How are we going to do that? We’ve both written it, I’ve directed it, and you’re in pretty much every scene. That seems a pretty tall order.’"

Singer JOSH GROBAN once received an etiquette lesson from an unlikely mentor Austrian actor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER.
The You Raise Me Up hitmaker was only 10 years old when his unruly behaviour at a restaurant earned him a scolding from the Terminator star. He says, "I remember literally bumping into Arnold Schwarzenegger. I ran into a restaurant without looking where I was going when I was 10 and this giant arm pulled me back. "It was Arnold and he goes, ‘Young man, I’m opening this door for these old ladies. Where are your manners?’ I was mortified."

JUDE LAW only accepted "fun" movie roles in a bid to lift his spirits following the break-down of his relationship to SIENNA MILLER.
The Alfie actor was desperate to land a role in a comedy in hope of getting over his emotional break-up with the 25-year-old actress in July 2005.
He says, "It’s true to say there are a couple of decisions I made in the last couple of years which were purely ‘I’m living the drama - I don’t really want to act it out. Let’s go and do something fun, please!’"

American actress UMA THURMAN owes ex-husband ETHAN HAWKE an apology - because he correctly predicted she couldn’t juggle her career and motherhood.
The Kill Bill star was adamant she would continue her acting career following the birth of her children Maya Ray, now nine, and five-year-old Levon Roan but she found it too hard.
She says, "(Hawke) claimed I couldn’t be a full-time mother and actress. I insisted I could. But I couldn’t. I really try to give all of myself. I wouldn’t even read a script that wasn’t shooting in New York because I needed to be home. "It’s a very difficult balance. I’ve thought about quitting but I love it too much, and now I’m a single mother so I can’t quit."

PATRICK DEMPSEY has vowed to have no more children with his wife of seven years JILL - because he hates the idea of being a geriatric father.

Filmmaking siblings THE COEN BROTHERS were forced to spend a small fortune shipping specially-designed fake blood from England to their NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN set in New Mexico - to keep predators at bay.
The brothers balked when they saw the costs for the blood the costume experts insisted on, but quickly realised the goo had to be something special.
Joel Cohen explains, "We had a lot of extras that had to lie around in the baking sun covered with blood on the desert floor essentially for hours at a time.
"The make-up department was buying this special blood, made in England; make-up blood that was something like $800 a gallon. "I wanted to know why they were doing that instead of just mixing food colouring with Karo syrup, which they usually do, and I was told this blood had no sugar in it.
"This was important because the extras would be lying there for hours and wouldn’t be attacked by creepy bugs and animals that might otherwise be attracted to the sugar."

Niklas Soderblom, who was engaged to the actress in 2004, reveals in his new book, Desperate Houseman, why he thinks she’ll never manage to hold down a relationship for long. The 42-year-old stuntman says, "There were things about Nicolette’s behaviour that struck me as very strange from the start, but I let them go. I was in love with her and I thought I was Superman, that I could save her from herself. But the truth is she is a very troubled woman who could not be more different from (Desperate Housewives character) Edie.
"Edie is a funny, flirty, sexy man-eater. Nicolette flirts and can be funny, but that’s just to catch you. She likes the excitement and the challenge of landing a new man but it never lasts. She is just a lost, angry little girl who has never grown up.
"She didn’t blame her problems on herself. She blamed them on me and she thought the way to deal with that was to move on to a new man. I feel very sorry for her because ultimately she is going to end up totally alone. She was very moody and people in the business warned me, ‘She will break your heart.’" Sheridan reunited with Bolton - an old flame of hers - after she split from Soderblom in October 2005. Actress EMILY BLUNT’s boyfriend has been exposed as an alleged love rat by a blonde bombshell who claims she has been dating him behind the Brit’s back.
Tiffany Bromley, 28, insists she has been dating Canadian singer Michael Buble on and off for the past decade.
And she claims some of their encounters have taken place while he’s been dating Blunt, the star of The Devil Wears Prada.
Bromley tells U.S. tabloid the Globe, "Michael is a cheater and a rat. We’ve made mad, passionate love a couple of times since he and Emily have been together. The last time was August 17 in the apartment they share in Vancouver." And Bromley claims that sexy encounter was "an 11 out of 10" experience that ended with Buble allegedly suggesting they took a series of naked photographs and then took part in a threesome.
She adds, "I told him, ‘No way!’ He said, ‘Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. You don’t know what you’re missing.’" But the threesome didn’t happen and they just made love through the night, surrounded by Blunt’s belongings.
The following morning Bromley woke before Buble, took cameraphone photos of him sleeping and then left wearing one of his designer shirts.
She claims Buble called her later furious that she’d left with an item of his clothing - and that was the last time she heard from her ex.

Country star TRACE ADKINS has joined the cast of DONALD TRUMP’s CELEBRITY APPRENTICE reality show.
The Chrome singer will join Stephen Baldwin, gymnast Nadia Comaneci, Marilu Henner and boxer Lennox Lewis and others who will be competing to raise charity cash through a series of business endeavours.
The show, which also features Kiss star-turned-entrepreneur Gene Simmons, and The Sopranos star Vincent Pastore, will debut in America in January (08).

LATEST: Entertainer WAYNE NEWTON has been given the all-clear to hit the road with the upcoming DANCING WITH THE STARS tour after overcoming a recent health scare.
A recurring heart infection forced the singer, 65, to scrap an upcoming two-month residency at Las Vegas’ Harrah’s casino, but he was determined to get back to the dancefloor.
Insiders claim Newton’s doctors are allowing him to participate in the tour, which begins next month (Dec07).
Newton was voted off the U.S. dancing show last month (Oct07).

Eighties rocker BRET MICHAELS has given U.S. troops serving in Iraq a Thanksgiving treat - he’s touring army bases and putting on special performances. The former Poison frontman visited a military hospital at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait and Camp Anaconda in Balad, Iraq. The star visited wounded soldiers, tried out a military jet and signed autographs and even a missile, with the message, "Bret Michaels says suck on this". And the pretty singer’s ‘Bling Bear’ is proving to be quite the Christmas must-have as her teddy competes with stuffed toys given makeovers by Faith Hill, Cindy Crawford, Daisy Fuentes and Lara Flynn Boyle.
Bosses at CharityBuzz who are offering up the decorated Care Bears, as part of an online auction, expect American Idol star Underwood’s teddy to be the headlining item, when the auction ends on 30 November (07).
Internet bidding was expected to end this week (ends23Nov07) but charity bosses have decided to extend the sale after receiving new Care Bears from Courteney Cox and The Hills’ Lauren Conrad.
In the certificate that comes with her rhinestone-clad country bear, Underwood reveals she played stylist to the cuddly toy on the same day her last album was released.
She writes, "She (bear) represents everything that sparkles and shines."

Rapper 50 CENT has praised KANYE WEST’s bravery to return to the stage following the sudden death of his mother, insisting the STRONGER star’s decision to continue with his European tour will help to ease the pain.
Dr. Donda West was laid to rest on Tuesday (20Nov07) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after passing away earlier this month (Nov07) from possible complications following cosmetic surgery.
But 50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - is adamant getting back onto the stage will help West come to terms with his loss.
He says, "That’s really an unfortunate situation and I hope he can work his way through it.
"It’s good to see him actually touring: You can work your way back into a comfortable space where you can deal with those situations." And the In Da Club hitmaker can sympathise with West - his G-Unit crewmember Lloyd Banks lost his father while they were on tour together.
He adds, "I was telling him, ‘You need to go back and do what you need to do’, and he thought maybe I was a little insensitive.
"But I can definitely understand how that’s a huge loss, and how that would be, and then (Kanye’s) relationship with his mum had a lot more depth to it than a lot of people’s. He was real close to his mum.
"I hope that he can work his through his way through it … if you’re active, you’ll find reasons to smile, reasons to be happy." West was in London on his European tour when he heard about his mother’s death - he has since returned to the continent to continue with his concert commitments.

Exhausted actor SIR SEAN CONNERY has quit writing his autobiography - because he’s losing sleep over his futile attempts to tell the story of his life and career.
The 77-year-old’s quest has been hindered by his refusal to read any of the ten biographies written about him, which he insists are packed full of lies.
So Connery has decided to ditch his own literary project.
He says, "It was giving me nightmares. I don’t think I am cut out for introspection."

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA star EMILY BLUNT cured her "disabling" speech impediment by taking up acting.
The 24-year-old suffered from a stammer when she was younger and blames her speech problems for her lack of self-confidence at school.
But she’s pleased she finally managed to overcome the problem.
She says, "I had a stammer, which was hard, but I used to act in school plays to help me escape from what I saw as a disabling difficulty.
"Really, I think I retreated into myself a bit as not to stand out."

LATEST: U.S. newswoman NANCY GRACE welcomed her baby boy home on Wednesday (21Nov07), just in time for Thanksgiving (22Nov07).
Grace was found to have two blood clots in her lungs after delivering twins Lucy Elizabeth and John David two months early on 4 November (07).
As a result of the birth complications, Grace was forced to leave the premature babies at an Atlanta hospital to be looked after by doctors as she rested at her Georgia home.
But Grace is delighted at least one of the newborns will be joining in the family celebrations.
Her representative Patty Caruso tells People.com, "Nancy is thrilled that John David will be home for Thanksgiving. She is praying that Lucy Elizabeth comes home soon, too."

OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN is to lead a fundraising walk on the Great Wall of China to raise money for a cancer charity.
The Grease star is planning the walk to raise funds for the building of the Wellness Centre at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, which will take place during the three weeks leading up to the Beijing Olympics on August 8, 2008.
She says, "It is not built yet. We are still raising money. I’ll be walking with ex-Olympians, current Chinese Olympians and famous people from all walks of life.
"I am looking for sponsors. I am very excited. I just want to be alive to see the centre built."
