CONTROVERSIAL DIRECTOR FRANCINE PARKER DIES

Filmmaker FRANCINE PARKER has died of heart failure. She was 81.
Parker passed away at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on 8 November (07).
She is best known for directing the 1972 documentary F.T.A., which follows celebrities including Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland on an anti-Vietnam War tour.
F.T.A., which stands for Free The Army, was known by some as F**k The Army and was withdrawn from cinemas within a week of its release, for reasons still unconfirmed.
The movie, which has rarely been screened since, will be shown at the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam in Holland on Thursday (22Nov07). Parker had been scheduled to attend.
