WINEHOUSE AND MOSS CRITICISED BY U.N. FOR ‘GLAMORISING’ DRUGS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:03 pm

British stars AMY WINEHOUSE and KATE MOSS have been slammed by a United Nations drug enforcement official for "glamorising" the use of cocaine.
Antonio Maria Costa, head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, singled out the pair as he warned of the dangers Britain faces from the dealings of Colombian drug barons, which affect the lives of millions of Africans as the drugs are trafficked through the African continent.
He says, "Look at Kate Moss who still receives lucrative contracts after she was photographed sniffing (cocaine). Rock stars, like Amy Winehouse, become popular by singing ‘I ain’t going to rehab’ (the Winehouse song, Rehab) even though she badly needed, and eventually sought, treatment.
"A sniff here and a sniff there in Europe are causing another disaster in Africa, to add to its poverty, its mass unemployment and its pandemics." British supermodel Moss was snapped taking cocaine in a recording studio in September 2005, but rapidly bounced back from the scandal, winning contracts from designers like Christian Dior.
Winehouse suffered a drug overdose in August (07) and was briefly admitted to a rehabilitation centre to fight her drug demons.
