SARANDON CROSSES PICKET LINE FOR DIAMONDS
Actress SUSAN SARANDON was met by angry protestors during a visit to a jewellery store in New York on Friday (16Nov07).
The Oscar winner was attending a cocktail party for the Leviev jewellery store in Manhattan when she was stopped by the group of picketers.
The group were carrying Palestinian flags in protest of the Finesse Diamond Corporations, which provides gems to Leviev, and the store’s construction of "illegal West Bank settlements." According to the New York Post’s gossip column PageSix, they told Sarandon, "You’re glitz, you’re glam, you’re building on Palestinian land. Occupation is a drag, just say no to your gift bag."
