SIMPSON LAWYERS CALL FOR DISMISSAL
O.J. SIMPSON’s defence team has asked the judge in the star’s armed robbery case to dismiss charges of kidnapping as the preliminary hearing ends in Las Vegas.
Before the four-day preliminary hearing went into recess on Wednesday lunchtime (14Nov07), Simpson’s lawyers asked Judge Joseph Bonaventure to consider dismissing the case altogether, insisting there isn’t enough solid evidence against their client to suggest a full trial is necessary.
As the closing arguments ended at Clark County Justice Center, Judge Bonaventure announced he would rule on a possible trial, and the counts involved, later in the day.
During Wednesday’s morning’s hearing, Alfred Beardsley, the victim of the alleged armed robbery told the court he was "100 per cent positive" Simpson wasn’t carrying a weapon when he stormed into his hotel room in September (07).
