MATT DAMON has topped a new poll to be named the Sexiest Man Alive.
The Bourne Ultimatum star, 37, beat Grey’s Anatomy hunk Patrick Dempsey - who is nicknamed Doctor McDreamy on the hit medical series - and Blade: Trinity actor Ryan Reynolds to pole position on the annual People magazine hotlist.
The title will be a welcome accolade for Damon - he recently revealed it has been his longtime ambition to beat pal George Clooney - a frequent entrant in such surveys - to the coveted number one spot.
But married Damon, who became a first-time father earlier this year (07), remains coy about his win.
He tells People, "You’ve given an aging suburban dad the ego-boost of a lifetime." The magazine cites Damon’s "irresistible sense of humour", "rock solid family man" and "heart-melting humility" for landing him the title.

The Holiday actress was photographed getting up close and personal with hotelier Liran Peterzil at the Jet nightclub in the Mirage Hotel in Sin City earlier this month (Nov07).
A source tells Britain’s Now magazine, "They barely left each other’s side all night. He had his arm around her.

UGLY BETTY star REBECCA ROMIJN is so desperate to preserve her youthful look she is considering having botox.
The 35-year-old actress is already fretting about growing old and is considering having surgery to maintain her appearance.
She says, "I think about Botox a lot, but I haven’t gone there yet.
"If it’s age appropriate I might do it - it’s not out of the question. But I’d never carve into my face with surgery."

Mexican actress SALMA HAYEK was so upset by childhood jibes about her flat-chest, she would pray to God for larger breasts.
The Ugly Betty star reveals she was bullied for having small breasts as a youngster - and decided to turn to her Catholic religion for help.
She says, "My mom and I stopped at a church during a road trip we were making from our home in Mexico.
"When we went inside, I prayed for the miracle I wanted to happen. I put my hands in holy water and said: ‘Please God, give me some breasts’.
"And he gave me them! Within a few months, I developed a growing spurt, as teenagers do, and I was very pleased with the way I grew outwards."

Actress RENEE ZELLWEGER is adamant she is not a trendsetter - she was forced to have her hair cut off because it is in terrible condition.
The Bridget Jones’ Diary actress appeared in several glossy magazines both in the U.K. and U.S. after sporting a sleek new haircut.
But Zellweger insists the cut was not meant to impress the fashionistas.

LATEST: British actor CHRIS LANGHAM has been left traumatised by the convictions for child pornography offences, insisting the whole ordeal has "ruined" his life.
The disgraced comedy star, 58, was found guilty in August (07) on all 15 counts of making indecent images of a child, following the police discovery of explicit films on his home computer.
Langham was sentenced to 10 months behind bars but walked free from Elmey Prison on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, England, on Wednesday evening (14Nov07) after a judge at the London Court of Appeal reduced his sentence to six months.
They also took into account the 43 days he had spent in custody prior to his conviction.
But Langham, who maintained his innocence throughout the trial, insists his freedom is little consolation for the torment he has been through in the last few months.
Speaking outside Elmey Prison after his release, he said: "My life has been ruined, but my conscience is clear."

STEVEN SPIELBERG will become the first director to claim the coveted Cecil B.
DeMille Award this century when he claims the prize at the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will honour Spielberg at the event on 13 January (08).
The Cecil B. DeMille Award is usually handed to actors and actresses for their "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field." Spielberg was named the 2008 recipient at a Wednesday morning (14Nov07) press conference hosted by actor Josh Brolin.
The six-time Golden Globe winner and 12-time nominee will join Warren Beatty, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Williams, Michael Douglas, Gene Hackman, Harrison Ford, Al Pacino and Barbra Streisand as the recipients of the honour since 2000.
Nominations for the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be announced on 13 December (07).
Meanwhile, in other Golden Globes news, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughter Rumer has been selected as 2008 Miss Golden Globe. The teenager will assist in the Golden Globes ceremony.
The role of Miss Golden Globe is given to the daughter of a well-known celebrity each year; Jack Nicholson’s daughter Lorraine filled the position earlier this year (07).

WESTLIFE star MARK FEEHILY has slammed the British media for constantly criticising singer AMY WINEHOUSE and deliberately focusing on her personal life.

British rock band OASIS have quashed rumours they are planning on copying RADIOHEAD by allowing fans to choose the price of their next album.
It was alleged Oasis were keen to follow in the footsteps of Radiohead after the band released their latest LP, In Rainbows, as a digital download last month (Oct07) and allowed customers to decide how much they wanted to pay for it.
But Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher is strongly opposed to the idea and claims it would only ever happen "over my dead body".
He adds of their new project, "There’s lots of cool parts. Really, we’re throwing everything at it.
"Hopefully our kid’s (Noel Gallagher) learned his lesson (about over-tweaking things in the studio). It shouldn’t be hard making music. We’ve been doing it long enough." The follow-up to 2005’s Don’t Believe The Truth is expected to be released next year (08).

R&B singer JOHN LEGEND is praying his close friend KANYE WEST will have the strength overcome the tragedy of his mother DONDA’s death to continue with his music career.
Dr. Donda West died in Los Angeles on Saturday (10Nov07) following possible complications arising from cosmetic surgery.
The Get Lifted star - who is also a longtime collaborator of West’s - is the latest celebrity to offer his condolences to the Gold Digger hitmaker, and took the opportunity to pay tribute to the 58-year-old for her success as a scholar.
He says in a statement: "Dr. West wasn’t just the mother of a superstar. She was an accomplished, successful, beautiful woman in her own right.
"She raised and nurtured a brilliant son with the strength and resilience to follow his dreams and to turn tragedy to triumph. I pray that he continues to stay strong during these trying times." Dr. West’s funeral will reportedly be held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - where she graduated from Douglass High School in 1967 - once her body is released by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office. An autopsy performed on West’s remains on Tuesday (13Nov07) was ruled inconclusive and experts are now relying on the results of extensive toxicology tests to reveal the cause of death.

Hip-hop mogul SHAWN ‘JAY-Z’ CARTER has signed a deal to buy British designer SCOTT LANGTON’s luxury clothing brand Artful Dodger - for $15 million (£7.5 million) cash.
The rap star completed the purchase together with his business partners Iconix Brand Group Inc. last week (ends09Nov07) under the company name Scion a joint venture between the two parties.
In a statement, Carter says, "Artful Dodger is an incredible brand with a lot of room for growth and Scott Langton is a visionary designer.
"They represent what’s next and new in fashion and we are glad to have both the brand and Scott as a part of our family." Iconix bought Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Wear Clothing label earlier this year (07) for $204 million (£102 million) in cash.

JAM MASTER JAY’s former business partner RANDY ALLEN has blasted reports portraying him as the "bad guy" in the rap star’s murder investigation, insisting he wants the case to be solved as much as anyone else.
The Run DMC DJ - real name Jason Mizell - was gunned down in his Queens, New York, studio in October 2002 - but his murder has gone unsolved due to lack of evidence.
Only one man has been named for his involvement in Mizell’s death - convicted drug dealer Ronald ‘Tinard’ Washington - but he has not been charged.
Allen, who was one of few witnesses in the fatal shooting, claims he has been working with authorities to find the hip-hop icon’s killer.
But he is angered by a recent article in the New York Daily News in which the Mizell family condemned him for not co-operating with the police investigation.
Mizell’s brother, Marvin Thompson, is quoted in the paper as saying: "As far as I’m concerned, everybody that was there and hasn’t said anything had something to do with it.
"It’s five years already and none of his so-called friends that were in the studio have come forth yet. Come on, you were in the studio and didn’t see nothing? It just doesn’t make no sense." But Allen insists he has been plagued by the tragic events of that night (30Oct02) and has been trying to identify the gunman for himself.
He tells MTV.com, "Every day when I go to sleep, I can hear Jay say, ‘Randy, go get Nita, go get Marvin, go get Bo and go get my mom. You’ll go get with them, and you’ll find out who shot me.’ "That part of it - (people seeing me as) being a bad guy - I’ll deal with it, but… I can’t do that anymore. I’m done with it… And if there’s anything about the street code, about people saying, ‘Keep it real to the streets’, and, ‘Snitching is bad’… I want everybody to know that don’t reflect with me… If it takes forever with me, I’m here in NYC (New York City) to straighten it out.
And I’ve been here for five years on it."

Actress JULIA ROBERTS constantly worried about her male co-stars on the set of OCEAN’S TWELVE - because GEORGE CLOONEY and BRAD PITT would frequently set off on wild adventures.
The then-pregnant actress opted out of the group’s excursions during filming in 2004 - but would frequently take snapshots of her castmates in case the actors failed to return.
She says, "I was the gatekeeper. I was the one who would wait up when they would go off in the boat at night.

Troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE sparked fresh fears for her health after going missing in London - prompting her parents to call the emergency services.
The Rehab hitmaker’s parents alerted police and ambulance crews after they lost contact with their daughter on Tuesday (13Nov07).
It is believed they fear for her mental state after husband Blake Fielder-Civil was remanded at London’s Pentonville Prison on allegations of grievious bodily harm and perverting the course of justice on Saturday (10Nov07).
An ambulance arrived at the star’s home on Tuesday evening, but she emerged unharmed two hours later. A source tells London’s Evening Standard newspaper, "Amy’s family are petrified she’ll do something stupid. They know she’s very low at the moment and misses Blake terribly. "They were trying to reach her on the phone yesterday evening and they were also trying the flat in Hackney (east London) where she’s been staying but they couldn’t get in touch with her.
"They immediately feared the worst and called an ambulance and police to go and check on her. But thankfully Amy showed up and was fine."

GREY’S ANATOMY star ELLEN POMPEO has married her fiance CHRIS IVERY in a low-key ceremony in New York.
The actress wed record producer Ivery on Friday (09Nov07) - one day before her 38th birthday - at Manhattan’s City Hall, with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg serving as their witness, according to reports.
A spokeswoman for Pompeo says, "They are over the moon." And the nuptials were so secret, Pompeo’s own father only found out about the wedding when she phoned home after the ceremony had taken place.
But Joseph Pompeo insists he isn’t upset by his daughter’s decision.
He tells People.com, "I’m very happy for her." Asked why the actress chose to marry on that particular date, he replied, "(I have) no idea. You’ll have to ask her. She just didn’t want a big thing." The couple became engaged in November (06) after dating for three years.
