Pregnant actress HALLE BERRY is devastated after learning boyfriend GABRIEL AUBRY plans to remain in New York following the birth of their first child next year (08).
The Oscar-winner, who is five months pregnant, planned to raise the tot at her home in Los Angeles - but her French Canadian partner of two years reportedly wants to reside on America’s east coast to further his modelling career.
A source says, "She’s been shocked by the news. Halle had always assumed Gabriel would move to the west coast so they could live together as one happy family. If Gabriel stays in New York, it’ll mean long separations. She knows their relationship won’t survive and has been begging him to change his mind." But the 41-year-old actress is determined her baby will not experience the distant relationship she had with her own father.
The source adds, "Halle hardly knew her own dad and they were still estranged at the time of his death, so she’s desperate for her daughter to have a father she sees regularly."

Latin superstar JENNIFER LOPEZ is taking a break from her singing and acting career after a recent health scare alerted the star to the dangers of a miscarriage.
The 38-year-old - who confirmed her pregnancy last week (07Nov07) - was taken to a U.S. hospital after noticing spots of blood in her urine - and was ordered by her doctor to cut back on all strenuous activities.
Lopez - who is rumoured to be expecting twins - has been travelling around North America to promote her latest album, Brave, and has just completed a U.S.
tour with her husband Marc Anthony.
A source close to the star says, "She’s petrified that something could go wrong (with her pregnancy). (The hospital visit) really shook her up. If she lost the babies, her life would be shattered." And the singer’s doctor isn’t the only concerned party - her mother, Guadalupe, has been trying for months to get her daughter to slow down.
The insider adds, "Her mum’s constantly been on the phone, telling her to calm down. Guadalupe’s very no-nonsense and she’s told Jen that she needs to take some time out of the limelight to enjoy her pregnancy and her babies when they arrive."

LATEST: Socialite PARIS HILTON has been praised by animal activists for bringing attention to the plight of a herd of Indian elephants who binge on alcohol.
The hotel heiress is spearheading a campaign urging residents in north-east India to lock up their booze after learning how 40 of the animals were electrocuted last month (Oct07) after drinking the locally brewed rice-beer.
And The Simple Life star’s efforts have won her much adulation from conservationists who have also been worried about the plight of the large animals.
Sangeeta Goswami, head of animal rights group People for Animals, says, "I am indeed happy Hilton has taken note of recent incidents of wild elephants in northeast India going berserk after drinking homemade rice beer and getting killed."

ANGELINA JOLIE is calling for world leaders to persecute those who commit crimes against humanity, because it is the only way to hold people to account.
The Hollywood actress and human rights campaigner made her plea to international governments in a new article for The Economist magazine, entitled The World in 2008, in which she urged tougher action against rogue leaders.
And Jolie, a goodwill ambassador to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), hopes to see something done soon to combat the ongoing genocide in Darfur, western Sudan. She has visited neighbouring Chad twice once in 2003 and again earlier this year (07) - to speak to victims of the Sudanese atrocity and highlight their cause.
Writing in The Economist magazine, she says, "Accountability is perhaps the only force powerful enough to break the cycle of violence and retribution that marks so many conflicts.
"Through accountability we can begin the process of righting past wrongs, and even change the behaviour of some of the world’s worst criminals.
"I hope that the Sudanese government will hand over the government minister and the Janjaweed militia leader who have been indicted for war crimes (by the International Criminal Court in The Hague), and that the teenager I met in Chad will get the trial he seeks.
"I hope that those responsible for the atrocities in Darfur will be held to account, not only for that young man’s sake, but for the world’s."

SPICE GIRL MELANIE CHISHOLM battled an eating disorder and struggled with depression throughout her pop group’s heyday in the late 1990s.
The 33-year-old - who is nicknamed ‘Sporty Spice’ - blames the negative press surrounding her body image for forcing her to become obsessed with diet and exercise.
She says, "I’d hammer the gym for three hours a day. It was a way of running away, not thinking. I felt like a robot. Then I started to control my eating. I cut out whole food groups like carbs and dairy.
"By the end of the Nineties I was living on steamed veg and fresh fruit. I’ve no idea how I kept going. When the papers started calling my ‘Sumo Spice’, I was only a size 10. But I was so upset by all the criticism, it got worse and I went up to a size 14."

British funnyman RICKY GERVAIS has vowed never to sign on for a reality TV series - despite his love of such programmes.
The comedian’s favourite reality show is Britain’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which sees stars struggling to survive in the Australian jungle for a fortnight.
But The Office star admits he would never step foot in the outback himself because he would "be the first out." The 46-year-old tells Britain’s Star Magazine, "(I couldn’t cope with) the fact there are no comforts like a bath or running water. The lack of privacy would do my head in first, then the idiots I was in there with.
"Then you’ve got the dangerous animals that could kill you, and having to eat kangaroo penis - it wouldn’t happen!"

STELLA McCARTNEY’s friends and relatives are concerned about the designer’s health during her pregnancy, because she has been devastated by her estranged step-mother HEATHER MILLS’ vicious claims about her family.
Mills - who is currently locked in a bitter divorce battle with the fashion designer’s father, Paul - accused Stella of attempting to break up the former Beatle’s marriage at any given opportunity in a series of U.S. and U.K. TV interviews earlier this month (Nov07).
She ranted: "(Stella) was so jealous. Stella wasn’t interested in her dad’s happiness. I can’t protect her any longer. She’s done some evil, evil things." But 36-year-old Stella - who is seven months pregnant - is horrified that the former model and mother-of-one could make such callous remarks at such a sensitive time for the designer.
A source says, "The last thing Stella needed is an attack on her like this in the final stages of her pregnancy. She was very upset and appalled that Heather, a mum herself, could be so insensitive at such a time. "Stella’s kept a low profile throughout her pregnancy, but these awful claims have left her feeling really low when she should be excitedly looking forward to the birth of her new baby."

LATEST: DJ UNCLE KRACKER regrets pleading guilty to an August (07) assault charge, but felt obliged to do so to avoid drawing out the court case any longer.
Kracker - real name Matthew Shafer - was sentenced to 12 months’ probation, ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment and fined $1,500 (£750) in September (07) after he was accused of assaulting a woman in a Raleigh, North Carolina nightclub over the summer.
Kid Rock’s former collaborator was arrested by local authorities after a 26-year-old woman approached an off-duty police officer in a nightclub to report Shafer had put his hand up her skirt. He was charged with second-degree forcible sex but pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in an effort to avoid a trial.
And Shafer maintains the action was not sexually motivated, but claims he was left with little other option than to enter a guilty plea.
He says, "There was no sexual anything involved.
"Assault is a far cry from sexual battery. You can either wait a year, spend 150 grand, go to trial, make more of a debacle out of it, or you can get it over with."

LATEST: Plastic surgeon DR. JAN ADAMS, who operated on KANYE WEST’s mother DONDA, has been sued three times over the last two years (05-07) for medical malpractice.
The rapper’s mum Dr. Donda West died suddenly in Los Angeles on Saturday (10Nov07) following complications arising from cosmetic surgery.
Adams has since denied responsibility for the 58-year-old’s death, insisting he "did nothing wrong" in the eight-hour long tummy tuck and breast reduction procedure he carried out on West on Friday (09Nov07).
But on Tuesday (13Nov07), website TMZ.com revealed that Adams is already being sued by three former patients, who have accused the doctor of various surgical blunders.
The most recent lawsuit comes from a Californian woman who underwent surgery for breast augmentation, a tummy tuck and liposuction in June (07).
In the lawsuit filed in California’s Orange County Superior Court, Terrie Cage claims Adams and another doctor "negligently and carelessly examined, diagnosed, cared for, treated and performed surgery upon plaintiff, failing to follow the standard care…". Cage claims she has been "rendered sick, sore, lame and disabled" as a result of the surgical blunder.
TMZ.com has also exposed further details of Dr. Adams’ shady past - legal papers filed by the Medical Board of California in April (07), which asked to revoke or suspend the surgeon’s medical licence. The papers cited two convictions for DUI - in 2003 and 2006 - and Adams was also found guilty of another charge in 1994.
An autopsy will be carried out on West’s body by the L.A. County Coroner’s Department on Tuesday (13Nov07) to determine the exact cause of death.

PRETTY WOMAN star RICHARD GERE has been given the prestigious Marian Anderson Award in honour of his philanthropy.
The U.S. city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, bestowed the humanitarian award on the actor in recognition of his efforts to promote Tibetan independence and his work with AIDS charities.
Gere - who is a Buddhist - picked up the honour at a ceremonial gala at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on Monday (12Nov07) and was praised for lending his fame and finances to help tackle global issues.
He says, "I’m not worthy of this award in any way whatsoever. I can’t tell you how this makes me feel. My heart is so wide open." The 58-year-old has advocated Tibetan independence from Chinese rule since 1978, taking on the role of board chairman for the International Campaign for Tibet. He also established Healing The Divide, a charity which works to improve care for HIV/AIDS patients.

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY was desperate to collaborate with THOM YORKE - but the RADIOHEAD star turned him down.
The former Beatle claims Yorke rejected an offer to work on an album with him - because he wants to solely concentrate on his band. McCartney says, "My daughter (Stella) was putting an album together and she put us in touch.
"I asked Thom to do a duet, but he said he couldn’t because he only felt happy working on his own and Radiohead’s material." McCartney’s 2005 album, Chaos And Creation In The Backyard, was produced by long-time Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich.

British comedian RICKY GERVAIS feels sorry for troubled star BRITNEY SPEARS but has also called for singer to "pull herself together." The creator of the U.K.’s hit TV comedy The Office claims he deliberately avoids the controversy surrounding the Toxic hitmaker, because too much is made of her "good" behaviour - which is far from praiseworthy.
The 46-year-old tells Britain’s Star Magazine, "I feel sorry for those people who don’t know any better, have these addictions and go off the rails (but) it makes me laugh when someone says, ‘I haven’t taken drugs for three years,’ and they get a round of applause.
"Most people haven’t taken drugs their whole life! It’s like, ‘I haven’t murdered for a week - way to go!’ I’m one of those people who think, ‘Pull yourself together!’"

Lifelong vegan JOAQUIN PHOENIX once ate a pizza and threw up for two days straight.
The Oscar-nominated actor was raised to avoid meat and dairy products, but as a boy found himself unable to resist the temptation of a pizza.

Mexican actor AARON DIAZ has split with long-term girlfriend KATE DEL CASTILLO.
The 25-year-old denies rumours the split was caused by his reluctance to marry the 34-year-old soap actress and claims it was a mutual decision.

GYM CLASS HEROES star TRAVIS McCOY is desperate for musicians NE-YO and DARYL HALL to appear on the band’s new album.
The frontman has already recorded tracks for the new disc with production duo Cool & Dre and Busta Rhymes - but is looking for help from Ne-Yo, rocker Hall and Arctic Monkey’s frontman, Alex Turner.
He tells MTV.com, "This is me reaching out right now, but we’re hoping to get Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys on the record, Daryl Hall on the record…

OWEN WILSON has put an end to speculation he is dating JESSICA SIMPSON because his new girlfriend is a model.
The Wedding Crashers star was rumoured to be romancing Simpson after the pair were recently spotted dining in New York.
But Wilson and American model Le Call are reportedly dating after spending mornings practicing yoga together and attending private dinner parties in New York.
