COMEDIENNE MARTINEZ DIES
Latina comedienne MARILYN MARTINEZ has died of complications from colon cancer.
She was 52.
Martinez, who appeared in movies including Pauly Shore Is Dead and El Matador, died on 3 November (07) at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in California.
Her agent Scott Montoya says, "Nothing was off limits for Marilyn. If it was on her mind, she’d say it." Born in Denver, Colorado in 1955, Martinez became a professional comedienne after graduating from Colorado State University.
She moved to Los Angeles in the early 1980s, where she regularly appeared at local venue The Comedy Store.
Martinez joined the Hot Tamales, a Latina comedy troupe that also once featured Eva Longoria, in the late 1990s. She also appeared on 2001 TV show My Wife And Kids alongside Damon Wayans.
Martinez is survived by her husband, John David Crowder.
