COLE BASHES WINEHOUSE’S PERFORMANCE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:27 pm

GIRLS ALOUD star CHERYL COLE has slammed fellow British singer AMY WINEHOUSE, claiming the troubled star’s fondness for alcohol leaves her unable to perform onstage.
The 24-year-old - who recently announced she feels "no sympathy for drug addicts" - has criticised the Rehab hitmaker for her unimpressive performance to date at the MTV Europe Music Awards earlier this month (01Nov07).
Winehouse surprised fans by mumbling through a performance of hit Back To Black at the ceremony in Munich, Germany, and appeared to have forgotten the song’s lyrics.
Cole says, "You know what it’s like? When a pub singer’s pissed and they go ’shoobedoo waah’." (PAW/WNTSU/JC) WENN - SECOND - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 10 NOVEMBER 2007

AMY WINEHOUSE’s husband BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Fielder-Civil, 25, appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court, London, on Saturday (10Nov07) over claims he tried to fix a trial.
Fielder-Civil and pal Anthony Kelly have been accused of paying victim James King £200,000 ($400,000) to withdraw a police statement claiming he had been assaulted by the pair.
Winehouse appeared in the court’s public gallery accompanied by her father Mitch. Troubled rocker Pete Doherty was also in attendance at the hearing.

MOSS MISTAKES POLITICIAN FOR PLUMBER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:24 pm

Supermodel KATE MOSS was left red-faced after mistaking an eminent British politician for a plumber - and asking for his number so he could inspect her pipes.
David Cameron, leader of the U.K.’s Conservative party, met the beauty at a charity dinner, where the pair discussed the torrential floods in her neighbourhood.
He says, "I remembered she has a house in my constituency and we’d had these terrible floods in West Oxfordshire. I said, sorry about the flooding in your house. I know your local pub as been flooded and I know it’s going to re-open in six months. "So I went on like this, twittering on, and she turned around and said, ‘God, you sound like a really useful guy, can I have your phone number?’ "I went back to my table and said, ‘The good news is I met Kate Moss and she said she wanted my telephone number. The bad news is, I think she thinks I’m something to do with the drainage.’"

SORVINO TERRIFIED BY NANNY’S HOLOCAUST DISMISSAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:24 pm

MIRA SORVINO vets her children’s babysitters very carefully after the German minder who looked after her as a child scared the actress with her thoughts about the Holocaust.
The Oscar winner and her husband Christopher Backus feel they’ve found the perfect babysitter for their two kids, three-year-old Mattea Angel and 18-month-old Johnny Christopher King, because she’s nothing like the misguided nanny who used to look after Sorvino.
She recalls, "I actually had a very strange experience when I read The Diary of Anne Frank as a child.
"We had a German housekeeper babysitting for us, and when I’d finished the book, I was crying. In an effort to comfort me, she told me, ‘Oh no, this is all lies. Many more Germans died than Jews. Only 600,000 (Jews died), not six million. It’s lies, all lies.’ "She was completely indoctrinated in a denial of the Holocaust. It was very, very scary."

HARRY POTTER ENCYLOPAEDIA SUSPENDED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:18 pm

A planned HARRY POTTER encylopaedia has been delayed after the publisher was sued by writer J.K. ROWLING.
The Harry Potter Lexicon volume, based on material from an internet fan site of the same name, was due for publication later this month (Nov07).
But the book was hit with an embargo after Rowling filed a lawsuit against the publishers last month (31Oct), which has seen a New York judge issuing an order barring completion, distribution, marketing or advance sales of the book indefinitely.
Harry Potter Lexicon will not be published until a judge rules on whether it violates Rowling’s intellectual property rights.
Roger Rapoport, the book’s publisher, has given a copy to lawyers at Warner Brothers - who hold the Potter copyright - to determine whether the encylopaedia is in violation of copyright.
He says, "I think they should drop it. I’m hopeful that they will." Rowling however insists she is disappointed by the situation: "On the contrary, I feel massively disappointed that this matter had to come to court at all. Given my past good relations with the Lexicon fan site, I can only feel sad and disillusioned that this is where we have ended up."

The Filthy/Gorgeous hitmaker - who has been working on the spectacle based on Armistead Maupin’s Tales Of The City series of novels for the past year insists focusing on the show has stopped him from lashing out at his bandmates and causing a split. He says, "Sometimes writing for the band makes you feel like you could explode, you’re so focused on making it good. That was a problem we had when we were making the second record Ta-Dah. "We had no lives, it was all we did. Writing the musical has been a really fun diversion because you’re not so focused on the one thing."
