MIRREN’S BARGAIN DRESS SAVES HER BLUSHES
DAME HELEN MIRREN was stunned to be awarded the best-dressed actress at a prestigious award ceremony - because the frock cost just $15 (£7.45).
The Queen star, 62, was forced to wear the bargain dress at the last minute after the zip broke on her expensive designer Grecian gown.
And Mirren was surprised to be hailed a fashionista.
She says, "(The zip) wouldn’t move up or down. My make-up was melting, my husband was trying… I was so hot and bothered. Eventually I had it cut off me. Instead I found a dress that I got from an outlet store for £7.45.
"It was a wardrobe malfunction but that little red dress made all the best-dressed lists even though the other was more beautiful."
