COPPERFIELD DENIES SEXUAL ASSAULT SCANDAL LED TO TOUR CANCELLATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

LATEST: DAVID COPPERFIELD’s lawyers have dismissed reports the illusionist cancelled his overseas tour as a result of ongoing sexual assault investigations.
The magician has been accused of the alleged rape of a Seattle, Washington woman in the Bahamas.
However, Copperfield’s representatives are adamant their client is innocent of all the allegations against him and on Thursday (08Nov07) denied the investigation was the reason for pulling his tour of the Middle East and Asia.
A statement from his attorney David Chesnoff insists Copperfield was forced to cancel the December (07) dates because promoters did not fulfil their contractual commitments.
He tells TMZ.com, "David Copperfield canceled his overseas tour because promoters did not honour their contractual commitments, including failing to make a contractual payment of more than $1 million and cancelling a segment of the tour without Mr. Copperfield’s consent.
"The cancellations had nothing to do with the investigation into allegations by an unidentified woman."
