BROWN BRINGS NEW YORK TO A STANDSTILL
R&B star CHRIS BROWN brought New York’s Times Square to a standstill on Tuesday (06Nov07) when he planned an ill-fated walkabout.
The hitmaker was promoting his new album, Exclusive, on MTV’s TRL show when he agreed to join thousands of screaming fans gathered on the street below the studios.
Supported by burly bodyguards, Brown got as far as the door to the studio before his handlers decided the meet-and-greet was a bad idea.
He says, "I got to the door and it was like, `OK, I’m gonna walk out,’ but then they (fans) started breaking the barricade and they was like, `Forget the police.’ "I was like, `OK, I think I’d rather be intact bodily.’" The Times Square walkabout was abruptly cancelled.
