ANGELINA JOLIE has hit out at the media for constantly comparing her to JENNIFER ANISTON, insisting the topic is of no importance to anyone.
The 32-year-old actress - who has been dating Aniston’s ex, Brad Pitt, since 2006 - has previously claimed she has no problems with the former Friends star, and would even welcome a meeting with her.
But at a press junket in Beverly Hills for her new movie Beowulf on Saturday (03Nov07), Jolie reportedly snapped at a journalist who asked for her opinion of the nine limited edition W magazine covers - which features both the Tomb Raider beauty and Aniston on competing covers.
She retorted, "Why would I comment on that? That matters because…?"

Director BEN AFFLECK was so impressed by actress AMY RYAN, he hired her on the spot following her audition for GONE BABY GONE.
And Affleck was so excited at the emergence of the new talent, he begged her not to turn down the role.
He says, "I think Amy is brilliant and I’m really glad to see that people will get to see more of her.
"And I just lucked out that she walked into the room. She read one scene in the audition and I like stopped and said, ‘You’re hired. Please do the movie.’" Ryan’s performance in the film as a drug addicted mother has already been tipped for an Academy Award.

Oscar-winning director WOODY ALLEN is bemused when actress SCARLETT JOHANSSON is deemed his "muse" - because it simply isn’t true.
The 71-year-old has cast the Lost In Translation star in three of his most recent films - Match Point, Scoop and Midnight In Barcelona - but insists she is no patch on former lover and Annie Hall star, Diane Keaton.
He says, "I’m grateful when they call her (Johansson) my muse, but it isn’t true. With Diane Keaton it was different. We made eight or nine movies together and had a special connection. But I like working with Scarlett."

R&B superstar BEYONCE KNOWLES has been honoured at the inaugural VH1 Soul Presents: VIBE Awards Special, taking home two of the four prizes she was nominated for.
The Crazy In Love beauty was awarded the gong for R&B Artist of the Year, while her distinctive fashion sense was recognised with the VStyle Award.
But Knowles’ Irreplaceable lost out on the Song Of The Year title to T-Pain’s Buy U A Drank, and Rihanna’s Umbrella won the Video of the Year accolade, ahead of the former Destiny’s Child star’s Get Me Bodied.

Animated rodent movie RATATOUILLE is reigning supreme at the top of the U.K.
box office for the fourth week running.
The Disney movie made a further profit of $3.08 million (£1.54 million) to retain the number spot - bringing its total British takings to $40.4 million (£20.2 million) since its October (07) release.
Josh Hartnett’s vampire thriller 30 Days of Night debuts at number two with $3.06 (£1.53 million) - just narrowly missing out on pole position - while Stardust remains in third place with $2.8 million (£1.4 million).
Cate Blanchett’s Elizabeth: The Golden Age enters the chart at number four and Saw IV rounds out the top five.

Actress KIM CATTRALL only agreed to reprise her role as sassy SAMANTHA in the new SEX AND THE CITY MOVIE if she received a substantial wage - because she was desperate for the money.
The 51-year-old star had no desire to return to Sex and the City following the end of the TV series in 2004, but admits her need for a secure future led to her change of mind.
Cattrall says, "It’s nice to step into Samantha’s skin again, but I’m only doing the film for the money. Samantha is very dear to me and I have such a wonderful time playing her, but I can’t say more for the experience than wanting financial security.
"We did it, and we did it well. But it was always about the money. When I made a stand about not being in the movie because I thought the money was terrible, there was a backlash of very negative things from some of my co-stars. The role is very much a double-edged sword."

LATEST: American TV star DUANE ‘DOG’ CHAPMAN is "not a racist", according to his eldest son CHRISTOPHER.
Chapman Snr., star of reality programme Dog, The Bounty Hunter, has been embroiled in controversy after he was heard referring to his other son Tucker’s Latino girlfriend as a "whore" and a "n**ger" in a tape recording - which was then sold to U.S. tabloid, the National Enquirer.
But Christopher - the eldest of Chapman Snr.’s nine children - has defended his father against the allegations.
He tells TMZ.com, "My dad has never been like that. I’ve heard him say the ‘N’ word once or twice, but never to where he’s been a racist person at all.
"He’s got a lot of friends who are black; a lot of friends who are Mexican, plus he’s half Indian himself… He’s not a racist person." Bosses at A&E television - the production company behind his hit TV series have suspended production on his reality series, despite the star issuing an apology for the racial slur shortly after the tape was made public.

COMMON is planning to ditch his music career for Hollywood, because he feels he will be more successful as an actor than he will ever be as a rapper.
The star - born Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr. - has garnered critical acclaim for his lyrical skills in his 15 years in the music industry, but has already made a name for himself as an actor in his short time on the big screen, with roles in movies like Smoking Aces and the newly-released American Gangster.
But he is contemplating making the career change more permanent.
He tells Vibe magazine, "I need a new fulfillment as an artist. I feel like I can become a bigger actor than I am a rapper.
"It’s scary thinking, ‘Damn, if I don’t sell no records, what am I going to do?’ When you haven’t made multimillions in this game, you got to think about what you want to be doing when you’re 50 or 60. ERIC CLAPTON and his former BLIND FAITH bandmate STEVE WINWOOD are reforming to play three shows together next year (08). The live performances - which follow an impromptu reunion between the pair at a U.S. music festival last July (07) - will take place at Madison Square Garden, New York from 25 to 27 February.
Clapton, who released one album with Winwood as Blind Faith back in 1969, says, "Our set at the Crossroads Festival this summer was a real treat, so I expect these shows will be good fun for us and for the fans."

DONNY and MARIE OSMOND’s father, GEORGE, has died. He was 90.
Osmond Snr. passed away at his home in Utah on Tuesday morning (06Nov07), and lived a happy life right until the end.
Family spokesman, Kevin Sasaki says, "I spoke to (youngest son) Jimmy Osmond and he said his father had a great day yesterday and was in good spirits." George Osmond married his wife Olive in 1944 and they went on to bear nine children - including sons Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay and Donny, who found fame as part of The Osmond Brothers.
He is survived by his brood of children. Olive died in 2004.

GARTH BROOKS has overtaken ELVIS PRESLEY to become the best-selling solo artist in history.
The country star, who shot to fame with 1990’s No Fences album, has sold 123 million units in his career, compared to Presley’s 118.5 million.
The Recording Industry Association Of America awarded Brooks two Diamond Awards for his albums Seven and Garth Brooks on Monday (05Nov07), in recognition of each albums’ sales, which have exceeded 10 million.
The singer, who is married to fellow country star Trisha Yearwood, accepted the awards at his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
He says, "This award reflects the magnitude of the country audience and what they can accomplish when they act together."

LATEST: One man has been charged in connection with the vandalism of a statue of slain rapper TUPAC SHAKUR.
Kenneth Anthony Wilson, 43, was arrested by DeKalb County police in Georgia last Thursday (01Nov07) after vandals defaced the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, and tied a noose around the neck of the bronze statue on 20 October (07).
Local resident Wilson now faces a felony charge of second degree criminal damage to property and is being held on $1,500 (£750).
But Wilson, who is of African-American descent, has not been charged with a hate crime because there was no evidence to suggest the vandalism was motivated by race, according to DeKalb Police spokesperson Mekka Parish.
Shakur was shot dead in Las Vegas in September 1996.

BEN AFFLECK turned to MATT DAMON for help as he struggled with the final cut of his directorial debut, GONE BABY GONE.
The Good Will Hunting star, 35, admits he had been "agonising" over some of the scenes in his new movie, which stars his brother Casey as a private detective searching for a missing four-year-old girl.
He tells U.S. talkshow host Larry King, "Matt was very helpful, actually. I kind of waited to show it to him until I was in the middle of cutting the movie… and he was very helpful.
"I had a few decisions that I was agonising over and I showed it to him. And he had some really good ideas, not surprisingly, a very smart guy, and he has been very supportive of the movie."

Pregnant CHRISTINA AGUILERA will not be neglecting her career once her baby is born - she wants to be a working mother.

Oscar-winning director WOODY ALLEN has turned his back on Hollywood for good because the U.S. movie industry is disrespectful of his creativity.
The 71-year-old spent decades working in New York, but has since chosen to film in London and most recently, Barcelona, Spain, for his latest film Midnight In Barcelona.
He says, "It’s easier for me to get financing in Europe. They give me more freedom because they respect the artist more.
"When Hollywood studios finance my pictures, they interfere a lot; they read the script, ask for changes, argue about casting… In Europe, they let me do what I like. Also, I’m able to make movies cheaper there and they don’t look as if they’re low-budget."
