DEATH OF OSMONDS’ FATHER PUTS TV SPECIAL IN DOUBT
LATEST: THE OSMONDS patriarch GEORGE OSMOND’s death has put an upcoming U.S. TV special honouring the famous family in jeopardy.
The 90-year-old was scheduled to join his kids on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show on Friday (09Nov07), but he died at his home in Utah on Tuesday morning (06Nov07).
The nine Osmond kids are now parentless - their mother, Olive, died in 2004.
Ironically, Osmond’s most famous son, Donny, was scheduled to appear on U.S.
news show Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday evening to discuss a recent meeting with his dad.
In the taped interview, an emotional Donny reveals, "He (dad) only lives about three minutes from my home… I walk in and he just lights up and says, ‘Donny, I love you.’ "He doesn’t say much but when he saw me and said, ‘Donny, I love you…’ that’s all he needs to do." As WENN went to press, it was not known if the Oprah Osmonds special would go ahead.
Meanwhile, Donny’s sister Marie is the second contestant on U.S. TV’s Dancing With The Stars to suffer the loss of a parent on the show this season - actress Jane Seymour’s mother died last month (Oct07).
