QUEEN, KING, 4 MONTHS & EDGE OF HEAVEN VIE FOR FILM AWARDS
Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or winner 4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS & 2 DAYS, THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND, THE QUEEN and THE EDGE OF HEAVEN are among the multiple nominees announced for the upcoming 2007 European Film Awards.
Announced on Saturday (04Nov07) at the Seville Film Festival in Spain, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, Germany’s The Edge of Heaven, The Last King of Scotland, La Vie en Rose, The Queen and Persepolis will all compete for the Best European Film prize when the awards are held in Berlin, Germany on 1 December (07).
Marion Cotillard’s portrayal of singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose have made her a favourite in the Best Actress category, where she’ll compete with Marianne Faithful (Irina Palm), Carice van Houten (Black Book), Anamaria Marinca (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days), Helen Mirren (The Queen) and Ksenia Rappoport (The Unknown).
Meanwhile, Sasson Gabai (The Band’s Visit), Elio Germano (My Brother is an Only Child), James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland), Miki Manojlovic (Irina Palm), Michel Piccoli (Belle Toujours) and Ben Whishaw (Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) will compete for the Best Actor award.
