WILLIS: ‘BOOZE NEARLY WRECKED MY CAREER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

Hollywood actor BRUCE WILLIS almost destroyed his career through excessive use of drugs and alcohol. The 52-year-old actor - who found fame at 29 - says he spent his first years in Hollywood "out of his mind" in a haze of parties and late nights. But Willis credits his marriage to Demi Moore and the birth of their three children to overcoming his battle with alcohol.
He says, "When I first hit the big time, I went out of my mind. I did not understand or accept any of it. I was just an actor and here I was, being asked to sign cocktail napkins when I went out to eat. I started to party and thought, ‘Hey, this is great.’ I became ‘the party king’. "I was enjoying my freedom, making great money and living a rock’n'roll lifestyle. I lapped up all the drink, the fast cars and late nights that I could take. Now I know that I can have a couple of drinks. I like a Martini or straight-up ice-cold vodka, but I never go overboard."

BONO URGED U.S. LEADERS TO MEET WITH BRITISH ARMY VETS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:39 pm

U2 star BONO urged America’s top politicians to speak with British soldiers who had occupied Northern Ireland before choosing to extend the war in Iraq.
The outspoken Irish rocker has never wasted an opportunity to tell the likes of Paul Wolfowitz, Condoleezza Rice and Karl Rove that the U.S. occupation of Iraq has always been a bad idea.
And he feels Americans were lured into thinking the idea was a good one by Iraqi terrorists who pretended to be overjoyed when U.S. tanks rolled into Baghdad.
Bono tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I told all of them to go ask the British army what it’s like to stand on street corners and get shot at.
"Remember that during the British army’s first years on the streets of Northern Ireland, they were applauded by the Catholic minority. Go look at that, and ask yourself how that all got turned around.
"It (occupation in Iraq) was always going to go wrong. I remember in the first moments after shock and awe, I was watching it at home with (my wife) Ali and I said, `These people have just hidden their guns in the basement, took off their uniforms and come out waving American flags. And they’ve been told to.
They knew this was coming, and they know what they’re doing.’" But Bono accepts the American leaders had to do something to show terrorist groups they meant business after the U.S. was attacked on 9/11.
He adds, "I understand and agree with the analysis of the problem. There is an imminent threat. It manifested itself on 9/11. It’s real and grave. It is as serious a threat as Stalinism and National Socialism were. Let’s not pretend it isn’t."

KIDMAN SNUBS ‘VILLAINOUS’ PULLMAN ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

Actress NICOLE KIDMAN initially snubbed the villain role in THE GOLDEN COMPASS - and was only persuaded to star in it after receiving a personal letter from its writer PHILIP PULLMAN. The Oscar-winning star was offered the part of Mrs Coulter in the movie based on a trilogy of books by Pullman, but was reluctant to play a baddie.
But it was only because of a letter from Pullman - one of the world’s most popular fantasy authors - that she finally agreed.
She says, "The thing for me is that she’s a villain, and my thrust a lot of the time is that I don’t mind playing characters that are ‘complicated’, but at this stage in my life I’m looking to do things that are much more warm and fuzzy."

HOLLYWOOD WRITERS STRIKE TO START ON MONDAY?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

LATEST: Hollywood is bracing itself for the first writers strike in 20 years after final negotiations between studio bosses and union officials broke down on Wednesday night (31Oct07).
The mass walk-out is expected to start as early as Monday (05Nov07) as all those involved await a union email, pinpointing the details and dates of a strike, this weekend.
Ongoing talks between the Writers Guild of America and producers were still deadlocked at the close of a heated meeting on Wednesday night, which led to a rally at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Thursday night (01Nov07).
More than 3,000 film and TV writers took part in the rally.
The writers are upset that they are not properly compensated for programmes distributed over the Internet.
Once the strike starts, chat shows and topical news programmes are expected to be the worst hit as writers walk out leaving skeleton non-union crews to pen skits, jokes and talking points.

SKINCARE COMPANY BUZZED OFF ABOUT BEE MOVIE SLOGAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

A Florida honey-based skincare company has filed suit against the studios behind new animated film BEE MOVIE - for stealing their slogan.
Bosses at BeeCeuticals LLC are all a buzz over Dreamworks SKG and Paramount Pictures’ use of the slogan `Give Bees A Chance’, which appears on posters for the new Jerry Seinfeld film.
They claim the slogan is trademarked by them, and the use of it without proper permission is an infringement.
BeeCeuticals owner Richie Gerber, who is DJ Howard Stern’s cousin, says he applied for a federal trademark on the slogan at the beginning of 2006 and his company has been using it to promote products for over 14 months.
He says, "Give Bees A Chance is my property, I own it." Gerber claims officials at the studios approached him at the beginning of 2007 with a co-promotion idea but he heard nothing else.

KARDASHIAN STRIPPED FOR PLAYBOY TO SHOW OFF ‘THE REAL ME’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Socialite KIM KARDASHIAN stripped for Playboy in a bid to prove to the world she hasn’t been cosmetically enhanced.
The pretty brunette, who was involved in a sex tape scandal last year (06), bares all in the December 2007 issue of the men’s magazine, and admits the decision to get naked wasn’t an easy one.
Kardashian, a former best pal of Paris Hilton, admits she thought long and hard about the offer to pose for Playboy, and asked family members and friends to help her with her decision.
But, in the end, she decided it would be a good idea because the world would then be able to see her all-natural curves.
The 27-year-old says, "I wanted to show that I’m not some skinny girl, I have a healthy body image, and I’m happy with my curves and who I am.
"I always laugh when it says on the Internet that I have fake boobs, butt implants or injected lips, because it’s so not true. I’ve never had plastic surgery.
"I’m excited for people to finally see how I really am." Busty Kardashian graces the cover of the new Playboy, wearing a skimpy red bathing suit, but she strips off inside, wearing nothing but pearls and ornate jewellery.
