CHAN OPENS COFFEE SHOP IN CHINA
Martial arts star JACKIE CHAN has opened his first coffee shop in mainland China - and pledged to donate some of the profits to local children’s charities.
The Rush Hour actor launched the latest store in his Jackie Chan’s Cafe chain in Beijing on Wednesday (31Oct07), and proved his philanthropy by vowing to give two per cent of all earnings to help disadvantaged children.
He says, "Each year, I would look for ways to raise money for charity to help needy people.
"Why? Because when I was young, I was very poor and many people had helped me get to where I am today. I am doing my part to repay their kindness to me." Chan has recently also opened stores in Singapore and Malaysia.
