The singer, 39, says receiving an honour for her 20-year career by the Music Industry Trust on Tuesday (30Oct07) has sealed her longevity in the music industry.
She says, "I couldn’t not do this. It’s what I’m about. "It’s wonderful to be honoured after 20 years in the business. I like to keep doing new things."

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s estranged wife HEATHER MILLS is threatening to quit Britain for a new life in America - but her young daughter is preventing her.
The former glamour model claims "abuse" by the country’s media is driving her out of the country and is considering a move to America following her stint on hit TV show Dancing with the Stars.
But Mills, 39, confesses it will be hard to take her daughter with Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney away from her father.
She says, "I would move to America in a second but I keep my daughter here to be close to her father. You have no idea how much I have compromised."

PARIS HILTON is being sued by a woman who claims the blonde socialite ’stole’ her look. The Simple Life star has been accused of causing "emotional distress" to fellow Californian, Nicolle O’Neill, who fancies herself as an inspiration to the party-loving heiress.
In a bizarre personal injury complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this month (18Oct07), O’Neill alleges that she suffers psychologically because of Hilton and accuses the 26-year-old of ripping off her style, including fashion-related "patens" (sic) and "stiling" (sic) tips.
Two pages of documents spell out specific charges against Hilton, including a claim that she stole O’Neill’s idea to expose her underwear under her trousers.
O’Neill also claims Paris swiped her idea to shop in vintage stores for retro dresses.
Hilton has yet to issue a response to the allegations.

Troubled pop superstar BRITNEY SPEARS gave a rare radio interview on Wednesday (31Oct07) morning - and disappeared to take a shower midway through the eight-minute chat.
Spears was woken up by her assistant and cousin Alli Sims just after 9am to talk to Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest.
After answering a few questions about her new album Blackout and briefly discussing her ongoing child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, Spears passed the phone to Sims.
Moments later, Sims revealed Spears was in the next room taking a shower.
However, before her unexpected exit, Spears did dismiss reports she’s dating American football star Tony Romo.
When asked by Seacrest if speculation she’s romantically involved with the sportsman, Spears replied, "Who?" Sims added: "He’s been one of my good friends for over a year. (They’re) just friends."

Actor PATRICK STEWART hopes pal DAVID TENNANT will help him land his dream role in hit British TV show DOCTOR WHO.
The Star Trek star will be appearing alongside Tennant in a London production of Hamlet next year (08) - and is hoping the pairing will lead to a role in the television series.

LATEST: ISAAC HANSON has proved he is recovering well from heart surgery by holding a fundraising walk in West Hollywood on Wednesday (31Oct07).
The 26-year-old was joined by his brothers on the walk in a bid to raise awareness for poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Troubled star OWEN WILSON is seeking solace from his recent suicide bid in JESSICA SIMPSON, according to reports. Superstar BARBRA STREISAND is set to come out of retirement to perform at the grand opening of the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

JENNIFER LOPEZ will be doubting her acting ability after her latest movie BORDERTOWN was released straight on DVD.
